why does everyone want a quick release hub?

i associate a quick release hub with small areas, like in a race car, so that it is easier to get out of the car.

like on our race car, if it didnt have a quick release hub, i wouldnt be able to get in or out.

^its supposed to, but there are ways around it, bmws and other high end carsa get stolen all the time.

meh, i just want a replacement for my stock steering wheel ... top half ot it ... the insulation under the leather has melted .. and when it gets to hot .. got black goo seeping out the seam...
