about every 50000 miles.
that is K&N's recomended interval. if you live in a very dusty area it might not be a bad idea to do it a little sooner. but 50000 worked good for me. i got my fiter with only a couple thousand miles on the car, and didnt clean it until i touched 50000. i have 64000 miles on the car now, and i havent even pulled it out of the box to look at it. i wont touch it again until 100000 miles.

I have the iceman intake and I just took a look at my filter which was supposedly cleaned at 30,000 miles. My car now has 45,000 on it and it needs to be cleaned again very badly. So I'd just say check it every about 15k miles or so and make sure it's still looking ok.

yeah, stupid road grime. Mine Gets Dirt Mugurt in like 15-20K km's... i i was looking into the K&n Precharger, which is like a nylon over-filter for the intake, it helps make the filter 99.9% waterproof, and im thinking it would probably help keep the filter cleaner, since it is in the fender-well... would you guys think the precharger would also help keep the filter clean?

A little dirty on a K&N actually helps it filter a bit. Still I do it once a year whether it needs it or not. I want an Amsoil EaA filter but it is not made in the K&N 2 1/2" mounting yet. Dang!!!
