New Exhaust

Post by gilly02le » Fri Mar 16, 2007 3:26 am

ordered myself a nice new 2.5" catback from trubendz on eBay, great quality, fully mandrel bent, and it's stainless steel.. came with 6 un-welded hangers, the three sections of piping and a couple 2.5" clamps. Fits great and sounds nice too... actually quieter then my old pacesetter 2.25 inch piping, that just got replaced. Just running a universal 2.5" in 3" out, silenced muffler for the time being, And a Magnaflow High-flow Catalytic converter.

Here are some pics of the goods..

this is my nasty assed old exhaust.. glad its off.. alumized steel, welds, and canadian winters, DO NOT get along well.. as you can see from the picture.. p.s - yea thats dog poop alright..

piping was 225.00 From trubendz on ebay... Magnaflow cat was another 70.

it was a rather expensive month, because i had ordered all that, and then had my drivers rear strut seized.. causing the harshest ride ive ever experienced lol... so there was another 100+ dollars for a strut.. ah well.. gotta expect these things to wear out after 100,000km of hard driving.

The r34 kit i picked up from a guy an hour and a half drive from here.. for 450 bucks... which i'd say is a pretty damn good deal for a kit thats never been fitted.. ill be selling the r34 sideskirts tho... so if anyones looking for a set.. keep an eye out on the for-sale section.

i'll have to get a camera and get some sound clips for you guys, the muffler im using right now is just temporary until i get my dual outlet muffler fixed, one of the outlets was never welded, so it needs to be fixed before i can use it. here are a few installed pics i managed to get when i installed the piping, had the muffler and hangers welded on at speedy..(thanks for the advice jordan) the service was really good there.

The first picture is of the new cat, the piping i got was a little too short to fit perfectly, so i had to get a 8" peice of mild steel to take the place for the timke being, once it gets warm, ill be replacing that small piece with stainless as its allready started to rust..

My Only complaint about this setup would be that when i bought it.. the first two sections of piping were made to fit inside eachother.. nice tight fit no leaks.. but the last sections.. are the same size.. in order to use a muffler in the stock location, the last piece needs to be expanded so it was 2.5" id.. instead of 2.5"od.....

Since i didn't use the stock muffler location.. i didnt need to use that last peice or have it expanded.. however when i have my firebird dual muffler fixed.. ill be throwing that back on... see what it sounds like.. for the time being one of its outlets.. just isnt welded.. dunno who fell alseep on the production line lol...

yeah its really nice lookin and well made, no restrictions anywhere in this piping lol...oddly enough, it seems quieter then the previous 2.25" aluminized steel setup, with the same muffler.. lol. Should have some sound clips today provided i can get to my buddies to use his camera.
