Mileage on clusters...
Mileage on clusters...
Ok, I am trying to help out my gf, i bought her a cluster from someone on here a while back and he said the cluster was x amount. She waited till she got to that amount and it turns out theres 15,000 extra miles on top of what he said. Anyway, her stock cluster is broken anyway, the mileage cuts in and out all the time. I know the dealer is the only one that can fix the mileage, is it even worth trying to go to them saying the orginal cluster is broken from the factory, can you reflash the new cluster? Or am I shit out of luck?

well the dealer ive been told can reflash your cluster but its crazy expensive. your better off trying to get another cluster that has the miles on it as close as possible to the one you have. i actually changed my cluster out about a year ago to and srt4 cluster and before i did it i called some dealerships and was told it was very expesive and there is a chance that i wouldnt work, im not sure why it wouldnt work though i mean after all your paying them to fix it. call some dealerships in your area and see what they say, if im not mistaken the cost they told me was any where from $ 400- $ 700 to fix it.

There are places around that can reprogram Odometers. Not sure if they will do it for off the street customers though. However if you bring them one in your car and your new one and give them the old to destroy I could not see why not.

This is probably not far from the truth... i've been quoted "$120/hour and who knows how long it will take the ECU to download its information."stang892k5 wrote: call some dealerships in your area and see what they say, if im not mistaken the cost they told me was any where from $ 400- $ 700 to fix it.
What are the estimated miles?

None of the dealers I called would touch my cluster. They either said they didn't know how to do it, or didn't want to do it because of liability, despite having full documentation. Same deal when I called the cluster shops. Easiest thing to do is just notify the DMV of a change of odometer reading then you're golden, no worries if somebody calls fraud.

I was told at the dealership that itd cost around $350, or i could pay $585 for a new cluster from the factory thatd be programmed for me at no cost lol...I found one within 1200 miles on ebay, the dealership told me the ECU doesnt hold any of that info, it's exclusively on the cluster, so the only way anyone would even know other than me having it on the title that way would be a carfax or medium similar that may of listed mileage from an accident or something.

The cluster stores the mileage, any chrysler dealership can send the cluster out to be reprogrammed. They send it out to a company called United Radio who has the proper equipment to do it. There was a topic over on SRT forums a while ago covering this subject and an employee from U.R. was offering to reflash for $35plus shipping.
