Tach Options

Post by drjeffreys » Tue Mar 27, 2007 11:35 pm

This has been talked about before but i want to clear it up.. the tach i just put in has 4 6 and 8 cylinder options.. as i already knew and found out.. the 4 doesnt work.. so my options are.. spend 90ish dollars on a adapter from msd.. or buy a tach that has a 1 or 2 cylinder option?
thanks

Adaptor worked fine for me.

If your car didn't come with a tach, most likely you'll need to have a tach adaptor because that's the only way to pick up the tach signal.

Where can I get an adapter if I get a gauge cluster with a tach on it so it will work in my 2000 neon?
What else do I need?

If you buy a cluster that already has a tach on it, then it is simply plug and play. No Tach adapter required. however, as you may already know, the mileage will not be the same.

If you truely want to keep the same mileage on the cluster consistent with the car, then get a cluster with more miles than what the car actually has, and waite untill that time to install the cluster to be consistent. Otherwise, an adapter can be bought. I believe I picked mine up for $60.

Get the adapter and install a small Tach then you are set to go. I have an autometer 5" Tach that I am willing to let go if needed. shoot me a pm if you are interested.
