Today I got to drive my car a good bit of time, and it seems to have almost eliminted my double notch feel. It is definetly much better than before. The only thing now is that my car seems to go into 4th gear a little harder, but has nothing to do with this.

insert (while drivng hard one night before I had my busings installed, I went to shift from 3rd to 4th at 6500 and it sounded like it grinded my gear going in. I'm thinking it might be a syncro going bad) /insert

Going into 2nd from 1st feels so much better and I have to say it's about 90% better. I will do a follow up in a couple weeks, as one day isn't enough for a great review.

I have had the Boogers and the Johnny Mopars with my 80% Maddog for about 10,000 miles

I wouldnt change it for anything else.

They definetly feel better. Only takes a minute to remove the console anyways :)

It still feels much better. Once in a while, it still gets the "notch" but for the most part, it is much, much smoother. I think it has to do with the cables being lined up much better without the play. The remaining "notchiness" must come from the tranny itself. I can actually shift into 2nd much faster than before without worrying about it not going in.

Stock bushings are a PITA to get out!
Putting the Jonny Mopars in now.

Edit-

Got them installed. I noticed when I was taking the old ones off there was a steel insert missing on the top right one...

Well anyways I test drove it around the area up to fourth and downshifted to third and second a couple times. Downshifting to second was kind of hard like it was before, but the second time I downshifted to second it was easier.. Well let you know in the long run.. Shifter seems a bit shorter too. :)

Mine was missing the metal sleeve in the top right one too. I think I posted a pic of it. Mine still feeling good, although the notch is still there sometimes. It's most likely a tranny issue.

I meant the top left. But yeah, someone posted the similar problem on SRTforums. Maybe its just the tranny. Oh well. Doesn't really bother me that much. All I know is, after driving my bro's Civic SiR and his Integra GSR, I come to the conclusions that our shifters just feel like crap. :lol:

If hondas have one thing going for them (apart from high revving VTEC goodness) it's that they have great shifters that can take alot of abuse. I'd still rather have a neon tho....

they still feel better for you? An update on mine, the metal bushings still better than stock, but whatever it did, my 4th gear has the main "notch" although shifting to the other gears feels much better. I wish someone could figure out what is the cause of this.

I think part of my problem is with my clutch. I don't think it releases all the way, all the time, though it seems to some of the time. But sometimes it's like it doesn't entirely release and I get a grinding second gear. Or maybe it's just my second gear grind from my old VW coming back to haunt me......

Well to add to the many posts, as of now besides being the tranny, it might be the shifter giving us problems. The JMbushings, boogers, etc.. may help, but the root cause might be in the shifter assembly itself. I've been experimenting while driving putting different "pressure" on my shifter when shifting into gears. Like when I shift into 4th gear, I normally have the notchy feeling, but if I shift to 4th gear, and apply slight rightward pressure while pulling back, it goes in much much smoother without the hessitation. Also if in neutral just about to shift into 1st gear, if I wiggle the shifter, it usually slides in much better. This is leading me to think that some of our shifters have to much play in them, causing these problems. It would have to be within the metal "housing" where the shifter rod meets the main body of it. I've seen on some cars, they have an actual metal gate where the rod slides through to help eliminate any slop or overshooting of the shifter.
