easy turbo question

Post by Adam_T » Tue Apr 03, 2007 10:46 am

im already saving up and going to do the srt4 turbo setup with adapter plate on my 05 sxt ATX.

it would be fine as a daily driver when im only going to be running at 200hp TOPS correct?

i hear ppl saying now not to turbo a ngc if its a daily driver and im like " great wtf "

i was just going to be running at 5-7 psi tops and not going over 200hp.

Well, it will be fine. It's just kinda a catch 22 with emissions testing. Either it won't run right, or you can't pass emissions.

You could always combine a RRFPR setup with a megasquirt, wire the megasquirt up on weatherpack connectors so it can be unplugged easily, and run racing fuel for the emissions test so you don't knock at a 14.7:1 A/F ratio.

Or you could just pony up for racing fuel all the time... (Ouch...)

looks like there is a new car in my future. I dont wanna do a N/A sxt. It will still be wimpy. Probabaly just going to piece out all of my performance parts and get all stock parts and trade in my car for a srt or a civic si.

bleh.

NA wont be wimpy if you do it right. You can pass emissions if you know what you are doing and don't have a visual test. Leave your stock computer and cat, and just let it run lean at idle, you will be fine. If you cant pass the visual test, then any car you get will have that same problem. If you plan on running MS to get past the NGC problem then I am not sure what to tell you, unless you can figure out a way to disconnect it for emissions time.

Hmm...well what about the Portfueler by hahn? Can I pass the emisions test while running the stock srt turbofold with hahn intercooler/portfueler/custom intercooler piping?

just curious. I dont want to spend money on stuff that will cause more problems.

sounds kinda better just to save up all that money and do a down payment and trade in my car for a car that is already faster. haha.

Ohhh you said emissions, emissions wont be impossible depending on how bad it is. Inspection I am not sure about.

certain counties in NC have emissions, but that is all OBD2 now. they plug into the port and aslong as they see a ready status from each of the sensors, and no codes your good in NC. the problem is the visual. you have to have a cat. nothing wrong with turbo and stuff.

as far as the port fueler... you need to find out if it has a Carb EO number, basically its an emissions exempt certification, or so says a friend of mine who did NC inspections for years.
good luck

That's all they do in Delaware, use a OBD2 and then have you slam on your brakes. Or if you have a freakin idiot like I did you have to slam on your brakes 7 times cause the dumbass didn't know when he was suppose to tell me to hit the brakes :beatstick: Then they just do the normal stuff like turn on your headlights, blinkers, tail-lights & reverse and off you go for a new sticker.
