Kids arrested for classroom sex

NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) - Five Grade 5 students were arrested in Louisiana on Tuesday after an investigation into allegations they had sex in an unsupervised classroom, with other classmates present.

"After 44 years of doing this work, nothing shocks me anymore," Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley said. "But this comes pretty close." The alleged incident took place March 27, at the Spearsville school in rural northern Louisiana.

Four students - two 11-year-old girls, a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy - were arrested on charges of obscenity, a felony. An 11-year-old boy who was the alleged lookout was charged with being an accessory after the fact, Buckley said.

The class was left unattended while the teacher attended a meeting, Buckley said.

"It's not clear how long they were left alone but speculation is that it was about 15 minutes," Buckley said.

"When no teacher showed up, the four began to have sex in the classroom with the other elementary students in the classroom with them."

The students, who were not identified because of their age, were released to their parents after their arrests because the parish has no juvenile holding facility, Buckley said.

"I'm sure they're like everybody else up here, shocked that children that age would be indulging in sex acts, especially with witnesses," Buckley said.

"Children now are subjected to sex in music and movies these days. They are certainly are a lot more knowledgeable now."

Buckley said it was unclear what a juvenile would face in penalties. For adults, conviction on obscenity in the presence of someone under 17 carries a US$10,000 fine and from two to five years in prison.

Same thing happened in Indiana just recently - it is an epidemic. I blame parents... not society, tv, teachers, administrators... nope, it is the PARENTS fault.

I mean, I've had sex in school before, but it was after hours, and AWAY from everyone.... but 11 - 13 year olds, having sex, IN CLASS??????

i think the problem is how taboo sex has gotten. i mean, sex is everywhere (tv, music, movies, etc) but parents are too scared to talk about it with their kids

Wow...I thought 16 was young for that kinda stuff...let alone in class!

I wonder what is going to have to happen to stop this kinda of stuff? Education or what?

parents not being so over protective and allow their kids to experience the world and fail on their own without getting hurt. It also means parents need to know what their kids are doing and who they are with, not just a name, but who this person is - their family, etc etc... parents are too busy to deal with all that stuff and just hope that their kids do the right thing - like my mom assumed - problem was, they never talked to me about alcohol, drugs, sex, the truth about each and not the glamorized crap from tv.

Uggh I am going to hear about this tomarrow. Its hard for me to say its the parents fault when my mom never talked to me about drugs or sex and I turned out just fine. The sad fact is that an asshole is born a minute and there is nothing we can do to save them.

On a seperate note can we please stop crashing srt-4's I sat through a 2 hour presentation today about what you should pick for a first car and it was hilarious the picked out the 50 best and 50 worst. The srt-4 was #1 or #100 if you look at it there way.

That's the most fooked up news, no pun intended...

For kids to be so young to do that is just so messed up and immoral.

That's what happens when kids these days are exposed to too much lewd sexual acts or images, whether by internet, movies, magazines, etc.

When I was around 9, I remember seeing dogs "doing" it in the middle of the street while I'd stare at them. I was like "why are they doing this?" I'd ask my aunt what they're doing and she just ignores me.

That's awesome! Just so wrong it's funny! But hey. Starting at 11, they'll know all the ropes by the time they need to know...

On another note, does it really matter? I mean, honestly, I was still shooting blanks at that point, and chances are that none of em have any STDs... I say let the parents know their kids are whores and let them deal with it. Hell, I'd be afraid for my life if my parents got a phone call that I was having an orgy in class at 11 years old. That's scarier than anything that the law could come up with.

hhmmm well in jr high i remember a girl getting busted for charging 0.25$ for others to watch her ... ummm 'act like a vaccuum' on a guy during break after lunch ... and this was in the late 80's ... but then again i did go to school in louisiana ... only about an hour away from where that happened now that i think about it....

well it is in louisiana ... but from what i understand the 'class' was more of a study hall or detention type class .. at a small school where 1st through 12th is all at the same school ... the teacher left them in there and went to an assembly for the high school kids ... and thats when it happened ... meh ..

as for 'the talk' .. i never got it either ... my kid is 14 now .. and he has gotten it .. from me and from his mom ... enough so that he is stick of hearing about it ...
