New plugs for srt

Post by biggrobb1995 » Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:49 am

I just bought NGK Iridium IX plugs for my srt. The part # is 2314. I've seen recommendations for the gap from .030 to .050. I have no mods , unless you count the mopar blow off valve plate conversion a mod. Anybody have any thoughts on what my gap should be?

You can gap them but you have to be really careful not the snap the electrode. By factory you mean what it says on the sticker under the hood right?

If you are stock and have no blow out, just runt he stock gap that is on the stick under the hood. once you start to turn the boost up you will want to make the gap smaller until you do not have blow out.

I suggest you get a stage 2 WGA. Best mod that I have done to mine

How did the waste gate help? Acceleration, torque. or hp? I'm a big time :newb: when it comes to the srt mods.

All three. That is the main power adder for the stage 2 upgrade.

The WGA is adjustable. With the turbo you can spike 18 hold 15 no problem. Compared to the stock (non adjustably)spiking maybe 15 holding maybe 11-12.

AGP Gives you the most power, but drivability sucks. You get PTB(part throttle boost) bad.(boosting more then 5 psi at half throttle)

Stage 2 gives hardly any PTB.

I thought you have a SXT?
We still have the sxt-it's my wife's now. My car is a orange blast SRT-4. We bought it a couple of months ago. There are pics in the picture post area.

Stage 2 gives hardly any PTB.
Will a stage 2 wastegate work being that I am stock?

Yes. That was the second mod I did. First was intake to open up the engine bay.

INTAKES DO NOTHING FOR A SRT UNTIL YOU START TO MAKE 300 + HP.

If you have not join, join srtforums. SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH. site is filled with great info. Just have to weed it out.

Also hotchkis swaybars really help to get the light rear end under control.

I went from the r/t which had hp blues, springs, hotchkis sways, bushings, pwerks bars, and sticky tires to the stock srt suspension and it was horrible.

I went from the sxt in my sig to my srt. Night and day difference. How hard is it to install the wastegate? I'm gonna start looking around so I can get an idea as far as what they are going for price wise. Thanks for all the help.

price should be about $60-$80. Install is very easy.

Adjusting is time consuming.
____________________________________
To put it on you need to take off the top heat shield(soak bolts in penetrating fluid first).

Then take out the 2 bolts on the WGA.

Then slide out the pin holding the arm on.

Stock one is now off.

Now is the "harder" part.

The directions for stage 2 require you to pretension the arm to 4 mm. I did mine to about 2mm since we are not stage 2.

Now install the WGA in reverse of taking the stock one off.

Now go for a test drive. You want it to spike 17-18 and hold 14-15. More then this and you will hit fuel cut.

If it is more or less, just adjust it will you get it right(takes a while since you have to wait for the car to cool down.

If you need any help and have free long distance, just call me 865-789-7805

I'm a turbo novice. Curious why is part throttle boost bad?
Don't you want boost to build up instead of spike?

It is bad, because when you push the pedal, say 1/2 way and boost 18 pounds, the computer is only adding 1/2 throttle fuel while the turbo is putting full throttle amounts of air into the engine. This makes you run really lean.
