Intake Mani

Post by jckevns » Thu Apr 05, 2007 2:08 pm

I posted on the review page as well
I want to get an intake manifold once I put my turbo on (not for a long time). I have narrowed my decision down to either the Indy or an AMM.
Any one have any comments or info on either of these intakes?
Thanks

You want throttle response or peak power? Smaller plenum for better response, more volume for more peak power.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

Since I have an auto I'd prefere more throttle response

then probably get in touch with AMM

he can probably build one to exactly what you want and can offer suggestions.

on turbo apps i have only had one person dyno, and that was steve lockett with the black SFWD car. this was on a dohc 2.4 but still it does have a good comparison of before and after. the dynos were months apart but they were the same dyno and the same boost levels (22 psi). going with the stock in 2.0 dohc intake manifold and 52mm t-body he did 287whp and then with my turbo intake and 65mm t-body he did 358whp. and the short runner design moved his power band up almost 1300 rpms.

(the 428whp was a boost spike to 27 psi)

shows what a custom tailored intake manifold will do for you.

Is there anyway the manifold can be made to have more bottom end power compared to top end? I'm thinking around 5g rpm?

i believe so. i think its a function of runner length and plenum volume. but dont listen to me. talk to mike about that, hes the expert.
