guage problem

Post by dawm » Tue Apr 05, 2005 12:16 pm

ok, i was on 1/4th a tank last i checked, and this morning while sitting at work waiting for everyone to show up (idling) my fuel gauge needle started to wander up and down 1/8th. so i figured i might as well fill up after work. so i filled up, 7.5 gallons so i was around 1/4th tank. my gauge now reads like 3/4ths even tho its full, it hasnt seemed to wander now but wtf? is my gauge going bad? or the sender in the tank? any ideas? i checked for codes and im getting none. this sucks. BUT i did get 28.9MPG, which is like a record for me.

take out your cluster and make sure the little sensor thingy or whatever is still plugged in. It happened to me once.

As long as everything is still plugged in to the cluster properly and none of the wires look burnt....I agree with evlneon on this one.....

Press and hold in your odometer button and turn the ignition to on...let go of the odometer button once the gauge test is initiated,,,let it do its testing and see if it resets you fuel gauge to a different point.
