Is there really any reason to change the rear drum brakes, since the car is FWD?
If they need to be changed how often should that be done?
I've put between 10,000-15,000 miles on my car since I bought it, not sure if the brakes were ever replaced before I bought it.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great
Thanks
Jack

Rear drums usually last a long time. My father put about 100K on his old Dodge Spirit before he had to replace his rear brakes.

rear brakes generally last >100000 miles.
pull the drum off and see how much material is left. that is the best indicator of if they need to be done.

The rear shoes dont do much braking, which is why they last so long. Changing them here and there is a good idea if you use the brakes a lot, especially if you ride them lightly (such as in an atx application) often.
