Ive been thinking about getting one off ebay, and would like to know how hard they are to install and do they use the dome light wiring?

these things are pretty easy to install, i have one and it was as simple and dropping your headliner. Naw you dont use the dome light wiring unless your flipdown tv has dome lights on it directly, then you can connect the wires to your dome.

I'm not 100 percent sure I want to as I should probly upgrade my battery or alternater first for my sub and dvd monitor. all advise is welcome!

i have a ? too, how are they actually mounted, is it to the headliner or the roof and what holds it up. and if you get one with built in dvd and you have a aftermarket cd player with front/rear/sub rca's how do you run it so the sound goes through your speakers
someone should do a HOW TO , hint hint lol

The tv i orderd was just a monitor and a video feed is coming from my flip out indash. Mines came with a monitor and a plate and you sandwich the headliner between the tv and this metal plate and once you get the screws to go thru the headliner they will go directly to the plate, once tight you run the wires down the side of the head liner depending where your power source and video feed will be, and put the headliner back up. depending on how heavy your tv is will depend on much the head liner sags. i have a 12.1 inch in my car and sags just a hair.

i put one in a few years back and now the processor on the monitor is fudged so it over heats and melts the plastic. the flip down i bought came with a plate...but...i didnt like it cause it didnt allow the monitor to sit flush against the headliner. so i put a piece of wood up there how i used to when i did it for circuit city. whats good about the wood is you can put good screws up there and not worry about going through your roof. another way i seen done was my friend glued two stacks of mdf on top of each other and glued it to the roof under the head liner. once it cured he screwed the drop down into the wood mking sure not to use to long of screws so it wouldnt punch a hole in the roof. this eliminated roof sag.

if you want you can splice into the blue wire that turns the amp on when the key is turned on or when the radio turns on not the actual wire thats going from the battery to the amp. good luck.SX_2.0_Monkey wrote:holy! wasn't expecting a response so fast! thanks! its only a 7" so i should be fine.us could i splice into my amps power source or run a whole new line to the bat?KrackstaR wrote:The tv i orderd was just a monitor and a video feed is coming from my flip out indash. actually I was wondering if the screen needs its own power supply or if the power supply from the dome light is enough. I guess I will find out in 3 to 6 days when it arrives. thanks for all the help!KrackstaR wrote:if you want you can splice into the blue wire that turns the amp on when the key is turned on or when the radio turns on not the actual wire thats going from the battery to the amp. good luck.SX_2.0_Monkey wrote:holy! wasn't expecting a response so fast! thanks! its only a 7" so i should be fine.us could i splice into my amps power source or run a whole new line to the bat?KrackstaR wrote:The tv i orderd was just a monitor and a video feed is coming from my flip out indash.
