FYI

Post by racer12306 » Tue Apr 10, 2007 6:02 pm

Well, I just wanted to let you guys know that I won't be on here anywhere close to as much as I have been lately. I screwed up and failed Calculus 3. And I'm on the verge of failing Physics if I don't get my shit together. It's my own fault, and a lot of it had to do with spending too much time on the internet in general.

I remember someone saying "study hard during the week and party hard on the weekend" can't remember who said that, but it seems like a good way to go. I haven't been devoting near enough time to school.

If anyone wants to contact me, PM me and I'll respond. I'm also on AIM.

Don't worry, I will be back. I just have to get this squared away.

:)

Calc 3 is the only calc class that didn't give me trouble. Calc 1,2,4, DE, and advance calc 1 on the other hand did. I feel your pain, retaking classes sucks.

I have a had a hard time with the 3 dimensional stuff. Drawing the graphs got confusing and I didn't get help when I should have. I am retaking it over the summer.

Retaking a class sucks really bad because I am behind my fiance by 2 years in the bachelors degree. But she will be doing her masters full time so I will really only be a year behind. Except she will have 3 degrees, AA, BS and MS, and I will have a AAS, and a BS. But getting the degree is the important part.

School, not so much. The housing market is rediculous here. Like a nice house on a little bit of land is >$300,000 and thats not anything big. We need every advantage we can get.

Your in high school. Trust me, in a university it is MUCH harder than high school or in a community college. I breezed through high school and community college without doing much.

I graduated high school with a 3.3 and community college with a 3.5.

I had a 3.9 in HS, now I have around 2.2 in university. I guess the saying is true: "I wanted to become an engineer because I have a strong desire to graduate with a low GPA."

Take ride up 83 just on the otherside of shrewsbury and before glenn rock they have houses for 180k.

Otherwise you got to go out to carrol or farther west. Or go to the eastern shore to the middle of no where.

School is important depending what you want to do. I only needed an AA because I had experince but no one cared cause I had no degree. 7 years later out of school no one could give a damn about my degree they want my experince.

Being in the service industry while its not glamours nor do I make 6 figuers yet I have a good job with benfits and I know that even if some how I would loose my job today I'd have another tomarrow.

Being dependable, work with little instruction, being able to fix shit when it breaks and then fixing when no one else will makes you goldened.

Also getting into feilds that no one really thinks of helps in getting more money and more job security in a time when you never really know.

When I started my Job I didn't know the area only how to read a map book. Never seen the stuff I was going to be working on before just had my basic understanding of eletricons and motors and basic trouble shooting skill. 7 year later I can work on anything and make anything work that isn't they just got to be willing to pay for it lol.

During school I busted my ass I went to school M-F and I worked 12hrs shift at the plant (themoplastics) on the weekends I would get off work 11am on monday and be at school for my 12:30 to 5 class. Did that for almost 2 years and when they closed the plant I got a job working overnight painting parking lots trying to make ends meet till I finished my degree.

Finished with a 3.6 GPA, student of the term(like the dean's list) and academic honor

We want to be in the Cecil or Harford area. We like the area and the family in there.

I just hope that I at the end of the semester I won't have to say, "Your mom's box" (its an O&A reference)

Don't procrastinate and you will have plenty of time for everything...that's how I've been doing it and I still have a 3.6 GPA. College is time management.

Good luck and study hard, then have a beer or two on the weekends and all will be good and it might even keep the burn out away

College is definately alot different than high school was. I graduated with a 3.5 and due to certain scholarships I have free tuition at a state university but am finding it hard to meet the scholarship requirements. I work at a grocery store as much as possible to make some extra cash and I'm taking 16 credit hours. I find that Friday night is really the only night I can do what I want which usually involves hanging with the gf just relaxing.
The whole "I don't do homework and I don't need to study" attitude will end once you get to college. If it doesn't you're wasting your money.
Good luch with school and do what yah got to do :D

Good luck dude, I also feel your pain, procrastination blows. I'm trying to hold off my side of the "camp" as well. Taking six classes is a royal pain in the ass but I'm still sane, lol.

I got a 3.5 at a community college but when I transferred to a four year college, reality kinda sunk in. It's hard as hell (classrooms are way bigger) and to adjust to a whole new environment was a challenge for me. Working 5 days a week including Saturday, plus six classes sucks major monkeyballz. I got a 3.1 in UMD so far but I'm no engineer I'm an economist wannabe, lol.

The only motivational factor I have right now is "30 days of school and I'd be done." Shit, if I could do this for 4.5 years, why not a measly month? I've stopped looking for a job, taking practice LSATs, and stuff like that. Just gotta focus on school right now.

The other motivations to think about? Money. Neon. Carlisle. Upgrades. :D

See ya back here soon.

sorry to hear it Frank! I know how it feels... my problem is that I can nto sleep, so I spend that time reading and writing - being in History and Education is completely different as far as work in college is considered... all I do is read, research, and write :( Sucks, yes, time is constantly wasted on here. But the upside about my sleeping disorder is I get caught up on reading  ;)

Good luck with school man!!!

Ahahaha so true

Oh man, in HS I never had a mark below 72. Other than that 72 everything was 80++ or 90++. In college everything was 75++ easy until my last year when I got a 63 and a 68 after playing catchup due to a hospital stay in the last couple weeks of my final semester. Never failed anything in my life.

Now that I'm in University to get my degree I've completely tanked out. Never thought I'd be worried about having to maintain a 60 average. Took on too much in my first semester and failed three classes, stubling to maintain the min average. :tardbang:

Just whatever you do man, don't quit. Keep your head up and keep trucking along. They make it rought like that to weed out people who won't cut it.

This college stuff is allready confusing. I think I'll stick with what comes natural ( driving cars really fast, on the track) and/or fixing them. In all seriousness good luck with you classes

I'm sorry to hear you won't be on the boards as much, but it is definately a worthy cause. I took the middle road through college...a degree that wasn't too hard, at a University that was. I did pretty good...but I definately wasn't on here as much back then. Get school all lined out, and you'll be very thankful you did when it's all done.
