2000 olds alero problems

Post by danielc24 » Wed Apr 18, 2007 8:55 am

i figured this might get answered faster here than on automotiveforums.com , ok my girlfriends car started running like crap and the check engine light came on so i took it to autozone and the #3 cylinder is misfiring, so i bought plugs and put them in.
At first it was normal then it started it again so i figure its the number 2 coil pack well it shocked the crap out of me so i know it's getting spark and after i messed with the wires the check engine light went off but it still stutters at higher rpm could the gap on my plugs be wrong?

what about the wires? have they been changed recently? if you messed with them and it got better then the wires might be bad, just a guess.

also, just because it zaps the hell out of you doesnt mean it have enough to burn the mixture in the chamber

the wires haven't been changed but i dont really have the money to guess on what the problem is. Is there a sure way to test the coil and wires?

you can check the resistance of the wires.

but 7 year old wires are pretty old wires.

Did the big Alero forum die? I think it was Alero.org? I was a member there when I had an 01 Alerho. It was a large, active Forum at the time. Sad.
Traded 05 SXT mtx, for new 07 Fusion SE I4 5A.
