Smart Start to disable speed limiter ?

Post by badgett » Fri Apr 20, 2007 12:34 pm

Some of my friends have rams and dokotas. They have smart start (you guys may already know this),which means the car shuts down all ac and stereo componets when you turn the key. Makes the engine start easier. Also it will not let you grind the starter trying to start a car that's already running. When their speed limiters kick in, they turn the key to the start position and hold it. As long as they are holding the key in the start position, they have no speed limiter. Speedo stops working also. So they don't know just how fast they are going. Has anyone tried this on a neon. I have nowhere to go that fast around here. I do know my 00 ES will not gring the starter and it kicks the ac off when I try the key trick just sitting in the drive way. Just something to think about

I may not know if this is true for all vehicles, but my old 1987 Oldsmobile and our 2006 Toyota's AC and accessories are shut off when the car initially starts. I think they may be all like that.

it does disable the speed limiter on dodge trucks including the HEMI. I have seen it from the passenger seat. Not all cars stop you from grinding the flywheel off.
