Switching trunks. 05 sxt to 04 SRT-4

I have keyless entry, and my trunk will pop open with my remote. I met a cool random guy with an 05 ps2 silver Neon, and we are gonna trade decklids straight up, he can have my wing for free.

Well anyways, I was thinking, since I have the remote trunk lid opener thingy it won't work?

Will all the wiring hook up?
Will I lose the function of my remote trunk opener?
Any how to's on how to take off the trunk? All I noticed is the wire connector and 3 bolts on each hinge, is that it?

it will work just fine. everything should hook up without a problem. that should be all that needs to be taken off.

the reason i know it will work is because i have an electric trunk popper from some random 03+ neon that was in the junkyard, when mine took a crap.

i believe if there is an electric trunk popper then there is remote of some sort, whether it be in the glove box or by key fob

I had the remote trunk lid opener on my 00 and when I put on my CF trunk it still worked no problem. You'll be fine.

i think he's more concerned about using one from an SXT and it still working. but i really doubt there would be any differences in wiring, etc with the trunk popper.

Stephen, just double check all the latches in each trunk, I am sure the remote trunk stuff is NOT on the trunk itself, but cannot verify without looking at my trunk. The swap should be easy as removing some bots from the arms on the trunk, nothing more.

yup bolts and a couple wires.

i believe the remote stuff is all under the dash cover.

On a side note, I saw a Stone White (brilliant??) SRT4 ACR on Monday that was modded some, and being driven by a chick

and it had the trunk wing taken off, looked HAWT, and I thought I would not have liked it, but I did!!! I cant wait to see yours.

No, actually she was not hawt, but either way we were driving and I was with my wife, I spent the entire drive from right down the street from my home to the WalMart parking lot.

I need to get some cards, because a lot of SRT4 drives give me the "harley wave" while I am delivering, even had some pull me over and talk about my car - dammit I need to get turbo'd!

I was actually thinking about putting an SXT spoiler on mine...
But decided against it.

Some responses from SRTforums:

It SHOULD still work. I believe the wires go to the 3rd brake light not the trunk popper but I don't remember right off the top of my head. If anything you could probably switch latches with his car just to see. If you pop open your trunk and open it try standing next to the trunk lid and press the trunk button to see if you can hear the clicking sound from the lid or from the trunk...that should give you your answer right there.

it still works. i did the exact same thing as you. i swapped with an SE neon. the pop solenoid is mounted directly to the latch and as far as i know it is a standard feature on all the 2gn neons. or at least on all the ones that are same years as ours. the only difference ive ever seen in any of them is that some of them come with factory installed alarms and there is a pin switch that mounts with the lock cylinder, but this item does not interfere with the pop solenoid, so it wont matter....

make sure you swap key holes.....lol

Yeah, when I was putting groceries in my trunk this morning I briefly checked out the mechanism for the keyhole. Wow....
