eh they are ok.. They are a New Venture T350 with 3.94 ratio. No Real Power to break anything unless you go boost.

This must be a ricer name then, first time I've heard of 'speed shifting.'

So, you stay in the gas even off shift. That's fine for rev matching a downshift, but if you're doing that on an upshift no wonder the SRT kids are busting input shafts and turning their gear boxes into a pile of shavings :tardbang:

That's called 'power shifting', because you're on the power while shifting ;) There is nothing wrong with doing that IF you know what your doing. The T-350HD is plenty capable of withstanding that in N/A applications. The clutch is the weekpoint inthis, not the trans.

Hrmm.. I would like to see a video of this so called "speed shifting" - Why? Because I could only imagine you bumping the rev limiter and doing nothing but loosing power as you cut off the fuel temporarily - but I dunno anything about nothing :D

WOW  At that video - NOW I know what you are talking about - my friend use to drag like that in his 67 camaro ... thing was a beast.

I can't tell, but is he pushing it out of gear before he pushes in clutch and into gear when he smashes clutch? Looks ocmplicated - I WANNA LEARN!!!

After looking at more and more, it looks like he is literally slamming it in gear at the same time he mashes the clutch, damn it looks hard. I really wanna practice for the track, but damn I am afraid of screwing it up - I know some people are like why, but I say why not? Ok, burnt clutch, syncs, gears... yeah, but that is all reason to change out and upgrade to performance parts

Here's my vid from another thread. The 2-3 shift isn't the best; 2-3 is much better. Having a STS would have helped alot; rev limiter FTL.

EDIT: The MTV's sound misleading. Almost like I let off the power, but I don't.

and if you're a relatively good driver you can shift like that without actually keeping on the throttle....think about that one....

the point of the WOT shift is to keep the rpm's up, obviously. My NA car didnt like being driven like this, and that was with an aftermarket clutch, my turbo car however, didnt mind, but i only did it a few times to keep boosting.

I looked into Ronnie a bit, very interesting for sure. That would be good for dragging like Ronnie did, but I don't know about track racing. It's looks to be based on slipping the clutch to control the rev's while at WOT. Do that on a road course you'll probably heat soak the clutch pretty fast.

Yep, the clutch gets hot very fast. It's really only for drag racing, where cutting shift speeds by the smallest fraction can make the win.

And of course, with turbos the advange is holding boost during the shift.

It's really not that hard, one of the first things I learned to do on my s-10 when I started driving it when I was 16. Basically you are blipping the clutch to the floor and back when you shift. Just keep the throttle on. Basically, push the clutch in as you start pulling on the shifter. So when you start going into 2nd you're clutch is already down. When you push to go into 3rd, do the same thing.

Easy as pie!

Stage 1 Has a Boost Hold feature when you shift at WOT. Just as long as you are quick you dont have to mess up your clutch and can take you foot off of the gas.

Well, I tried this tonight while delivering - No, not racing, just getting on it for three gears, and it works like a charme, I love it, I do not think I have ever shifted so fats in my life, and my car was perfectomundo - I can however see how easy ot would be to kill a tranny with a screw up though  Thanks for the tips and pointers all :D

I started doing this last friday actually, just for the hell of it. With my 72% STS, it makes it EASY as hell to get between gears.

It sucks when you're at the track and you dont qquite catch 2nd right, so you sit there banging the rev limiter until it goes into 2nd. lol
