03+ HID's ?
03+ HID's ?
I've been reading and they say HID's can not be installed into the 03+ headlights. Is this true and if so why not?
I have a 2000 neon but I'm going to be doing the 03+ headlights swap and wondering if HID's work or not?

Sure, but you will get mad glare, probably pulled over, and it really only SEEMS brighter, don't waste your money just yet. Wait till you can afford a retro, or at the very least, the new Ebay projector headlights.

ok how do you NOT get pulled over with these? lol I can only imagine how often I'll be getting pulled over. The first car I passed flashed their high beams at me. Can they give me any ticket for them? I dont see what they can give me, plus all the newer luxury cars come with them.

i spent the time putting them in yesterday, and $150 on the kit. I didnt take my car last night so i'll see how it goes within the next few days. if its really that much worse then the other cars i'll probably take mine out and try to find some projectors. Do they make projectors for 01s that still use the 9007 bulbs? otherwise i wasted money on this kit lol.

I'm with Adrein and have never gotten pulled over with my HID kit either. Its all about how you aim them and such. Since they are really bright, you will want to aim them down just a tad more than you would the stock bulbs.

I agree I do not see how the 12000k would be better when I bought mine, they were out of the 12000k I wanted them because they looked purple and I thought at that time that because they were a higher number that they were brighter the guy at oznium actually told me that it isn't true and the 12000k that I wanted produce an unuseable light. and are actually not brighter. More for looks or what ever you wanna call it. My lights are just as bright if not a little brighter than any highend car you see around here. the cops are so use to seeing hid's that how would they know if they are stock or not.

i have seen 12000k lights before in a car ... hell i had to go slow and let a kid who had em in his car follow me to a gas station the other night in the rain because he couldn't see shit with them ...blackboi50 wrote:if u ever come to ATL ill show u!!!!!!!!..........1-Devil- wrote:i fail to see how 12000k is better then stock ...
Heh. I'm working on a Bi-Xenon retrofit using parts of a Cadillac. I took my headlights off and am currently using my 5400K Osram Xenarc auxiliary lights as my night time lights. The retro-fit is going to be quite an extensive modification, so it'll take me some time to finish with school and all. Just so everybody knows, and to add to lambostealth's reply, the light temperature of ~4100K-4300K will produce the BRIGHTEST amount of light. It's output of approx 3200 lumens far outdoes the 2000-2500ish lumen output of my 5400K aux. lights. Anybody who gets above 6000K is pretty much all for show. My HID retrofit is using all factory stuff, all around the 4100K temp range. I prefer brighter light over cool-looking light. If the retrofit goes well, I might be able to do Non-HID projector retrofits and maybe a couple more HID fits if parts are available for anyone interested. Pics will be up once finished, but it might take awhile.

So do you actually believe the light output of your 12000K are brighter than my 5400K auxiliary lights?

Sorry dude, if your lights are TRULY rated at 12000K, it is no where near the output of a factory halogen bulb at 1200 lumens. The output of a true 12000K color temperature is around 850L......Thats HORRIBLE output.
What I mean by truly rated at 12000K, is that the manufacturer may just call them 12000K when the output is more like 6000K-8000K.
I don't care what its in, or who says they think it's brighter, 10000K, is where the output becomes below a standard halogen bulb, and I'm not even going to get into the sloppyness of an HID bulb pattern in a halogen housing. And I KNOW that you can't see ANYTHING with them when it's raining.
Don't try to make your purchase justified to us, you need to justify it to yourself.

HAHAHAHA.......I actually giggled a little when I saw this........you PERCIEVE that they are better, but they are SCIENTIFICALLY dimmer. And, just because they are HID's, doesn't mean they are brighter.blackboi50 wrote:I never said that........yo i run with the fogs on all the time........wtf why do yall care......i see 10 times better with these....they are still HIDs so.....101NeonR/T wrote:So do you actually believe the light output of your 12000K are brighter than my 5400K auxiliary lights?

So, what exactly is better about them if they aren't brighter????
And those do not look like 12000K......this is 10000K, and 12000K should be much dimmer.

Take a pic at night, yours look like the average Egay kit, they are all just about 8000K.
