Ram Air with a SRT hood.

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Apparently if you take out your good scoop, and match the hole in the air box to a hole in the hood it will supply cooler air to the car.

It's funny how these ancient topics resurface almost a decade later and a whole new generation of people debate things that have already been put to rest. Here's the final outcome for the SRT hood mod:

At higher speeds, it does force a tiny bit more air into the airbox. This is good. However, as soon as you stop, or are driving at slower speeds, you end up sucking more hot air off the turbo than through the scoop, thus causing heat soak. Any cooler air through the scoop is just playing catchup for the heat that you've been pulling in before reaching the effective speed.

The vents in the hood are for cooling the turbo. That's it. The PVO guys toyed with the idea of a ram air effect, but the results were poor. Don't cut your hood.
