Team Livid's H-Brace
Team Livid's H-Brace
Ok everyone, just to give yall a heads up. My friend Troy and I are going to be making H-Braces for the neons. It will look somewhat like the BWoody H-Brace that sells for $250, but with a few minor differances and no traction bars. I need to put my neon back together so we can make the prototype which should be made in about 2 weeks. Once we are happy with it, we have enough material to make about 7 or 8 braces. We will be selling them for about $125-150 shipped. The brace will include install intructions and hardware. A question we have for you is, if the price doesnt change to much would ya'll want them powder coated? If so, it would look better and last longer. Someone asked about a skid plate to attatch to it with some air luivers(sp), we are working on that aswell.
So, just to get a head count, about how many of you would want one?
Also, if you can think of anything else, just let me know!

I'm sorry if you took the skid plate as a suggestion. That was something that I was thinking of doing on my own.
I was thinking of making my own brace and then making a skid plate to put on it.

the bwoody brace comes with traction arms as well, all for 300 bucks. Its a pretty good deal, but I suppose if someone is looking to buy just the h brace, your piece might be the way to go. good luck

ehh... I'm sure it aids in stiffness, but i dont really see how the added stiffness in that area would help/hurt the performance of the handling.
I believe the main reason bwoody created it was to have a mounting point for the track bars. They seemed to damage the lower rad support when they were mounted solo.
But it makes for a hell of a skidplate. I pulled out of a driveway yesterday and it was steeper than i realized and then i heard the SCRAPE!!! Checked it out, and the brace took the slide without damage. Of course there was scrape marks, but didnt damage the rad support.
Oh, and regards to accident safety... I dont really believe that they would help or hurt. Like i said in my thread, a down side to an accident would be that it transfers force to your k fram rather than just the bumper. I dont know what that may do, but doesnt seem like a good thing.
But its my car... i'll deal with consiquences myself.
