Does anyone know anyhthing about this car...

Post by dansou5 » Sun May 13, 2007 9:07 pm

I have a friend :quotes: that owns a 91 ford thunderbird coupe Supercharged V-6 auto. Off edmunds the specs are 210 hp, 315 ft/ lbs of torque, and ways 3550lbs. The kid always talks $#(@ on cars that are 4 cylinders and that no 4 cylinder will ever beat his car  (wish i had the SRT-4)

Anyways does anyone know the times of these cars. Pretty much i want to shut the kid up and i was wondering if i would have a chance against it with the 01 R/T no mods yet?

Thanks for the input....

those are decent little cars if maintained properly over the years .. and can be made to put out some real nice power ...

i think it would be a close match with him leading just a bit ...

if these times are from a mint/ well kept one or from when these cars were slightly new i think you have a good chance of taking him.

Its surprising how quickly cars loose hp over the years just from normal use. On top gear the co-host dynoed his own Mustang Shelby and it was almost 50hp below the original hp of the car.

I owned a 1992 T-Bird Sport which has the exact same engine and tranny as the 1992 mustang 5.0 - it had and auto in it and there is the t-birds weakpoint. With exhaust, intake, and headers on my tbird I was able to take stock mustang gt's with no probs, but with comparably modded out gts they would smoke me and all because of the stupid atx vs. mtx - everytime.

I brought up my tbird because it is very comparable in power to the SC and TC birds in power, just made by forced induction instead of N/A.

If you are a good driver, you could proabbly take him - I am a poor driver and on paper, It would be a close race.

useless fact, but the thunderbird was the first Ford car to have an actual name, and not letters or numbers as a name...

210hp..315 tq.?!?!.. hell of alot better then the 87 5.0 thunderbird i had.... that thing was flat out slow... 150hp from a v8 is pathetic...youll beat him its a ford ... if you start to lose the angels will come down and help push your car faster... fords arent suppose to win.... dosent it say sumthin in the bible about the first time a ford wins a race that it will mark the beginning of the end of the world?

My roomate in college had one (MTX). It was very quick (for the era). I've never been in an ATX? My roomate could keep up with 5.0 Mustangs of the time (he had a minor pulley upgrade). You don't see too many decent ones still on the road.

:laughing3:

And yea, shall it come to pass, that the iron horse of the ford shall pull ahead, and there shall be great vengance upon the land, and all shall weep, and the air shall be filled with the smoke of an engine running rich with the blood of the wicked. And yea, shall this metal beast have the power of two hundred and ten horses, though it has 6 cylinders and forced induction, and should be granted more power, still the Lord has seen fit that the instrument of vengance shall be woefully underpowered.

You're right, it's useless.

Plenty of named Fords well before the Thunderchicken.
