Alarm Not Working

Post by Toon » Mon May 14, 2007 6:36 am

I got myself an owners manual the other day and was trying a few things out. There's a few things I couldn't get to work:

1. The alarm! I tried it for the first time and it made no noise! The indicators flashed but no siren sounded. Is the alarm hooked up to the horn and if so where should I look to make sure the horn is plugged in?

2. The "chirp" when you lock the car. Maybe this is because #1 doesn't work so there is a loose connection?

3. Open all doors with one press of the fob. I don't like having to press the button twice to open all doors - I just want to open all doors with one press.

I have a UK Chrysler Neon if this makes any difference?

Its probably sent to silent. Read your owners manual and set it back to hear the noise. If that doesn't work then yeah, theres probably a loose connection somewhere.

I can't find anything in the manual that says how to active it which is why I asked on the forum.

I think you have to take it to the dealer to get it activated. I wanted to go, but the dealers were giving me a hard time. here is one of my old posts talking about this.

Yeah, when I tried explaining it to the guys at the dealership, they just tried treating me like I was an idiot that had no clue as to what I was talking about. Typical dealership for ya'.

Wait, so you have an alarm from the dealer, or the keyless entry/sentry system? If it is the sentry system, to turn on the HORN indicator when arming system:
Page 18 of the Owners Manual wrote: The horn chirp that signals that the doors have been locked can be toggled on or off by usinig the following procedure:

1. Insert the ignition key and turn the switch to the ON/RUN position.

2. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the transmitter for 4 to 10 seconds

3. Continue to hold the UNLOCK button and press the LOCK button.

4. Release both buttons.

A chime will sound to signify that the feature has been successfully completed.

Yep, tried that but no luck :( Doesn't do anything at all. I'm presuming the alarm comes as standard as the led is built into the dashboard etc.
