$38,000 for a car that was more than likely overmatained, never saw the street, driven by somone compendant, and, that probally has less than 10,000mi on it.

There is no way you could build the car for that.
-$15000 for car
-$ 10000 in upgrades
-$ 1000 for tires
-$ 25000 all the track time and the set-up

I would have to know if the car was crashed and if the cage would fit my measuremets and also what class the car's in.

If I'm right, that's World Challenge car, where every car has to run the same wing, FWD, RWD or AWD.

Depends on the class rules. Any certified racing body has class rules that must be observed to the letter. Something as simple as battery placement may disqualify you from a class bracket you intended on racing in. There may be a cap on engine mods or output or whatnot.

This car sounds like it may be for another team to pick-up not the everyday guy, but I'd say maybe closer to $30,000.

Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of the car. Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you're going when you hit the wall, and torque is how far you drag the wall with you.

278whp with a gutted car, you have any idea how fast that is? I'm sure its tuned perfect too.

Thats alot of balls for course racing.

I'm sure that car will be bought out by a group too, not some individual.

38k for a extremely nice car, not a bad deal. No way could you build one for that price.

Well I found out why sports car racing will never be popular in america and this thread proved it. There is NO ONLY 287hp,in a 2500lb FWD car 287hp works out to 8.17 lb/hp it is amazing for a street car to be under 11lb/hp a stock srt is about 13lb/hp and a Neon SXT is a little over 16lb/hp when you are ROAD racing power is the last thing on your mind look at modern history Elise>Corvette in SS EVO>Corvette AS I can go on. With this car you are paying for a set-up tested race car. A perfect example of the whole power dosent matter, a champ car is right about 1200lbs and has something like 400hp a F125 shifter kart has only 40-60hp and will out accelerate a champ car because it is rare for a kart with driver to way more than 450lbs. About the wing, on a race car MORE DOWNFORCE IS MORE BETTER dosent matter if its FWD RWD AWD, you have more areo grip your corner speed is higher which means you get on the stright faster and carring more speed.

i wouldnt say that this thread proved it at all.

it is probably just a matter of not understanding the class.

i understand that power is definately not everything in course racing, however for the mods done to that car it is not worth $38,000....keep in mind that that motor has been driven balls out for every single mile on it.....you could've bought a new srt, put in a full race spec cage, tuned, and still be under $38,000 so thats why i said its not worth it....not because it only has 278hp

You obviously know nothing of the sport, which is fine, but don't try to cover up your lack of knowledge with falseities........

The cage in that car is MAD expensive to build......like, over $10,000, track ready suspension, and 287HP is A LOT for the weight on a road course. It's understandable that you think it's outrageous, but, it is indeed a bargain for a race team.

Plus, the cage is certified from NASCAR, the cert for a NASCAR cage is expensive, not to mention that it WILL save your life, if someone dropped a nuke on it, LOL. The are Xrayed, Chromoly. That alone is worth more than an SRT itself.

Brake fans, monster brakes, specially built ducts, AIM data acquisition, GPS, race radio, OZ Ultralaggeras, Custom tubular adjustabe control arms, fire system, lexan windows.

And, no, you could NOT build one for less than the bid price.

um...no, keep in mind that you live in the most expensive part of the country and i can get a chromoly cage indentical to that for far under $10,000 around here....it might not be as pretty, but it will certainly do its job quite well...since the demand for full cages and tubular frames is far less by me than it is in sunny CA, the cost will be significantly less for a cage that is just as high in quality....i know this for sure because i help out a friend who does dirt oval racing and had a local shop build him a very high quality full tubular frame for a very good price, true i still havent taken into consideration the ducts and data software, but price wise those arent as significant as the cage and suspension....on a side note, lambo do you know where i can grab one of those RACEPACK guage systems? i'm having a hard time finding one

Anyone can weld some chromoly stock in thier backyard, but, I gaurantee you won't get the above quality, or the ability to pass a NASCAR tech with the crap you get from the local scrapyard. I don't care where you live, that kind of quality (materials, and labor) is not cheap. Plus, there is only a handful of guys that could weld that cage together, and pass Xray, oxy, and penetration testing that goes into every NAS rated cage. You also mention that it may not look "pretty", but, if it doesn't look, measure, and spec out perfectly.......you get to build a second one.

As for the data display and loggers, DigiDash is probably my favorite. When I attended Skip Barber, they used the DigiDash1, and it was so user friendly, that you could learn to use it in under a day, without reading a novel thick manual. Heres a link for them.......http://www.locost.co.za/Catalogue/DigiD ... iDash2.htm

No harm or offence meant towards you.........Blackboi however, is a douchebag. LOL.......1 (ghey)

A wing is effective on any car, fwd, rwd or otherwise. The catch is, you have to actually be hauling some ass for it to come into play. Whether or not it helps that particular car, is another story, but pretty much any decently setup wing is gonna create some dowforce.

Thats a SWC car, and its probably worth near what theyre asking. HP isnt everything to someone who knows a thing or two about cars, especially in this case. That's a road racing car, and that's plenty of power for the twisties.
