Trans weight

Post by esteinmaier » Mon Jun 04, 2007 3:48 pm

Anyone know off hand with the weights of a T-350 vs a T-850? I keep popping transmissions, and I'm thinking about getting an SRT trans.

I'd guess its not a huge difference, but unless you can get someone to weight the two you might be SOL for details. How would you get it to bolt up? the blocks are quite different.

OB, the bell housing bolt patters are the same. The 2.0 and 2.4 blocks are quiet simular.

so a t-850 from pt or srt-4 will fit onto a neon block.. ?? just wondering because i'll be swapping trannys soon and there are tonnes of pt cruisers at the junkers around here..and oddly enough 1 maybe 2 2gn neons.. so its harder to find the the t-350 then the 850 round here....

If I'm not mistaken the standard PT's use the NVG T-350HD (FD: 3.94, but differnt 5th gears for 2001+) like the 2gn r/t's and acr's. The turbo PT's got the Getrag G288 while the SRT's got the NVG T850 like you said.

I think... :?

somebody clarify this. if this is true then the pt basically has the r/t acr neon trans. i'd be interested to see the gear ratios to see if i'm right. i would have thought that the pt would have the 3.55 final drive just like std neons.
ooh...there's a glimmer of the dream left!!!

in what ways are they similar? Thats odd i could have sworn that the tranny's werent interechangeable. Good to know.

ps the PT came with a Getrag tranny? man why doesnt anyone run that? they make one hell of a trans.

The reason people say that the trans doesn't work in a neon is because they don't fit in a first gen. The hard part is axles, hubs, etc. that go with it.
