Does anybody have one of these? Do any of you photographers have any opinions of this? I'm thinking about buying one within the next two weeks and I'm trying to get as much info as I can.

it is pretty much the same as the D40, with the exception of the 10.2 MP CCD. the D40 and D40X are essentially Nikon's competition for the Canon Rebel series. they all have the same range of features, for the most part, so it really just comes down to you deciding if there is a standout feature that one doesn't have or if you lean toward a Canon or Nikon more. if you are not a fanboy for either team, i would suggest that you check out the Nikon (D40 and D40X) and also the Canon (Rebel, Rebel XT, and Rebel XTi). they are all priced in the same range, too. obviously with the newer version(s) of each out, the earlier models can be had for much cheaper these days.

with that said, i own a Canon Rebel XT. i have had it since a few months after it was introduced and i love it. it has never let me down, takes great pics, the battery lasts a looong time, has a ton of features, and there are a large amount of upgrades such as lens, filters, and such.

i don't know personally but i would assume that the D40 series has fairly the same type of 'aftermarket', for lack of a better word. if nothing stands out to you as far as features, capabilities, brand, and the like...you can always turn to price as the deciding factor.
