How do I fix these codes?

Post by mztykal » Sun Jun 10, 2007 6:22 am

I just bought a 2001 Neon as a daily driver and it doens't run right. Here's the codes I get when I pull them...

P0700(M) EATX Controller DTC Present This SBEC III or JTEC DTC indicates that the EATX or Aisin controller has an active fault and has illuminated the MIL via a J1850 (EATX) or SCI (Aisin) message. The specific fault must be acquired from the EATX via J1850 or from the Aisin via ISO-9141.

P0455(M) Evap Leak Monitor Large Leak Detected A large leak has been detected in the evaporative system.

LMK how I fix them and I can fix them so I can get this thing running. Any and all help is much obliged. I never really work on engines, only body, paint and interior and stereo. Thanks!

P 0700 you'll have to have a full scan tool to access it and find out what to do. And it's probably on the heftier side as far as problems go.

P 0455 is a pain too. Leaks are a pain to track down. The EVAP leak could just be your gas cap not sealing, but if it's not that, then you have to do some kind of leak test. And I'm not sure what kind of process that would be....probably be best to ask whoever does your scan for you to fix 0700.

I am throwing a P0455 too. I just ignore it since I don't have emmisions testing :D Cause it really is a pain to track down, but I think mine is coming from a bad EVAP pump or canister.
