Best Turbo manifold flow? And an exhaust port quesiton.
What would have better flow, a SRT turbo-mani w/ adapter plate. Or a direct bolt up log style mani?
(im talking about w/o porting)
Also, does anyone know of some engines w/ exhaust ports and maybe bolt patterns, similar to the neon sohc (or alteast know the spacing and diameter of the exhaust ports on the neon)?

if you have the option go log, in the long run it leaves the door open for switching to different turbos and setups. the td04hr is a turd and really doesn't flow that great...granted at 7 lbs or so it doesn't really matter much but toward the end of its efficiency range (16ish psi) it really begins to show.
when talking turbo manifold design you shouldn't be looking at flow but rather gas velocity. if a manifold flows really well but lets the gases cool your turbo will spool up later. ever wonder why 2.5L Subaru's don't make 18lbs on a 20g till 4k? extremely long manifolds that allow the gases to lose velocity. for the most part a log manifold will be absolutely perfect for applications under 600hp.

If you have the option, I would go with a log style for many reasons, with one of the main ones being the ability to upgrade/change your turbo and still use the same manifold. However, with the price that you can pick up SRT stockers for these days, you can't really beat it for a starter setup. They are actually quite an efficient turbo for a low boost application, which is what many people start with anyway. Also, quite a few people are using them so you will have plenty of help with pretty much any issue that you have. Yes the td04hr is a small turbo, but, remember that just means a faster spool. When I had mine it was hard to stay OUT of boost...

Thanks, reason i was asking was becasue i wanted a log style for upgrade possibilities, wanted to make sure it was an all around better option. Turbo I plan on going with will be some sort of t3 most likely (maybe a t3 garret airesearch, they seem to go for cheap)
I gotta get a beater to drive around during the install first though, haha, been trying to find a 2gn cavy z24 like my first car (god i miss it).
So anyways back on topic.... A log style would pretty much be the best option for fast spooling? Id like to hit spool anywhere from 2k-2.5k rpm

well thats the thing, i only want about 8-10lbs max, untill i build up my bottom end.
And i like fast spool
also my car is an atx so ill have less of that redlining problem.
ANd i dont wanna go past 10 yet cus of the little aftermarket avaliable for 4 speeds. (id probly do a mtx swap before i go past 10)

Honestly, based on your fast spool requirements and boost level target I would say go with the SRT turbofold. There are a few things that come into play when you are looking for a turbo that will spool fast...scroll housing size (specifically the exhaust side), engine displacement, and the type of manifold. The SRT unit spools fast and is quite efficient at those lower boost levels, just like it was designed to be. I have experience with it on the 2.0 so I can tell you that for a fact, it always wants to spool. Also, if the 4 speed transmission is built anything like the trusty ole 3 speed then you would be surprised what that thing can handle.
