Yeah, they're completely tore down now, probably. That really sucks. Hopefully they had good insurance on those vehicles, because they'll probably never see them again and if they do, they'll probably just be a massive pile of expensive parts. :(

Myeh... while it sucks for that race taem, they need to just take it as a lesson learned the hard way. who in their right mind leaves that much money sittin in a hotel parking lot without being watched. Lo-jack is cheap (I bet krack has it on the show car). Alarms with fuel cut-off that send a message to your cell phone/pager/key fob are even cheaper.

As already mentioned, those cars are a pile of parts and scrap metal right now, and like i posted on srt forums, they don't stand a chance of gettin any of the parts back IF they're found, unless they're serial numbered or are inconspicuously marked with photographs.

The man's got a point. Even an enclosed trailer would have been wise.

you mean they were that much out in the open? I thought these things were in a nascar trailer type of deal. what dumb asses for leaving them alone like that.

They were in an enclosed trailer. 40'er if i remember right. I'm sure it had all sorts of decals plastered on it tho, mopar, sponsers, whatever. i think he said it had SCCA on it too. if i raced, my trailer would look like a piece of shit landscaping trailer, but it would still have lo-jack.

Bottom line is, if you're investing that much money into a hobby/sport, you might want to think about throwing down some chump change for security. I'm sure the truck and trailer were insured, idk if you can insure a track-only car, but if you can, i hope they insured it for way more than they were worth. they probably lost $200k+ all at once, with very slim to no chance of getting any of the vehicles back.

no doubt, advertising is a bad thing. if they wanted to display sponsors, perhaps magnetic decals would be in order, as they can easily be removed. hell, like said above, throw some fake landscaping decals on it.

very unfortunate for the racing team though:(

anyone recall the threads on every forum about the stolen mustang that did get recovered? or the hit-and-run photo posted up that got the kids busted? the internet can be a powerful tool, i bet there are a few thousand people with their eyes out for this rig now.

I think this kind of coincides with this tread. True, the internet can be a powerful tool for catching crooks, but it can also be a powerful tool in aiding them too.

When someone post all they have done (what loot can be had) and where they are and how to locate the car (and in some instances photos of the keys too). Don't be surprised when something like this happens. Not saying this incident has anything to do with the aforementioned; it's just food for thought.

Kind of like mentined, why advertise to thieves with sponsor decals and whatnot.

Serries sponsors make teams put decals on there rigs, You can insure race cars but I think you have to go for "properity" insurance.

Yeah, i figured either lo-jack or an extreme insured amount. at least you know what the deal is, but you live in b-more, so it's to be expected. these guys must live in an area with a low crime rate. sucks for them for this season of racing, but if they insured correctly, they should be able to come out super strong next year with more moeny in new cars than they had in the old ones.
