SRT-4...I will use my own mod money. More stable platform. Less BS to deal with.

hmmmm see I could go either way..10g's to spend on a stock neon would make it nice yes...but then just going on and paying the extra cash for a car that already has the items on it, that I would put on the stock neon sorta kills the whole process. Either way....ill be happy with a dodge...srt....10...ram.

2004 sxt!!!, yes it will be less reliable, but it will be faster, and 10000 more fun, it will be your car wich you built, not just another SRT-4, thats my opinion :)

Id buy a V6/5spd mustang and a procharger. Enjoy cheap insurance, RWD, and a cooler car in general.

Believe it or not i would take the srt4... trust me alot of less headaches and random stuff you never though would be an issue.

hell look at my car http://www.floridaneons.org/forums/albu ... user_id=22

Even Roach has his fair share of heaches.... i should know i help him with some of them... but when you see the reaction i get from some srt4 guys when they hear my turbo spool next to them..

I think i would give it a 50-50 shot there but in the end the srt4 is just alot better to mod than a regular neon. Less variables= more reliable

I would never ever ever buy a mustang or a ford for that matter!
I would rather Have a srt 4 than a brand new Mustang GT
Let alone a V6 one of the most useless engine ford build between 195-2000
Half of the neons on this forum will fuck up a V6 Stang....
Come on Man...
NEED a SRT-4!

Ignorant much, arent we?

Typical case of SPS.

actually i have always like mustangs, especially the FI and the R versions. But to be honest, the v6 is embarassing in those cars. My friend's dad has 1997 v6 that is his daily driver since he refused to drive his drag car to work but loves stangs. Well anyway my friend had a galant 1997 same year with way more miles and after some backyard fun we raced they raced them switching drivers back and forth and the galant! won every time. Another friend of mine had the same deal going on with his buddy, it was DOHC 1st gen neon with 100 shot vs. v6 01 stang w/100 shot and the stang lost every time in fact it couldn't even go faster than high 14s while the neon ran 13.7s consitantly till he broke an axle.

I would royaly rape that stang for 1/2 the insurance, less than 1/2 of the build cost, get better gas mileage, have more seating, more cargo room, better bad weather handling, and eaisier maintenance (because ford SUCKS for maintenance) and this is all in a 12 year old turbocharged granny car. And on top of all that, i wouldn't have 3 identicle cars on my street. But i suppose a Dodge Spirit isn't a "cool" enough car.

"Ignorant much, are we?"

BTW- I would take the SXT with 10,000 in mods.

Is someone use to being made fun of or what? Calm down d00d.

And speaking as a neon owner, and an ex-turbo dodge owner, I still liked the '01 'stang I had better. It wasnt the fastest (though it wasnt the slowest either), but it was by far the funnest. Theres more to a car than being fast. Guess thats something you have to grow up to understand though. *shrugs*

Geez, SPS is like a plauge with you guys.

I wasnt being rude at all. I just gave my unpopular opinion on what I would do with the specified amount of money.

But the responces thus far have been entertaining. Neon owners are the only group of people Ive seen get so excited when another type/brand of car is mentioned. lol

LS-1, V-tech, 1.8T, and the GTP people are just as combative. And the neon guys have an extra annoyance. They get tortured day in and day out by the "neons are shitty cars" stereotype. So they spend their automotive hobby time trying to prove it wrong. And when somebody comes along and says they would rather have a 6cyl mustang than an SRT or a highly modded neon, they get the impression you are saying "Neons suck no matter what you do to them", and that is insulting.

Only to those who are insecure enough to take it as an insult. I've gotten plenty of those comments. Ive gotten plenty of "V6 mustangs are shitty cars" comments too. Kind of the pot calling the kettel black, no?

No matter though. :)

A stroked 3.8 (4.2l, or just an F150 block with 01+ mustang split ports) V6 with a procharger (im partial to them), and a g-track suspension 'stang sure would be nice to have... ugh. Guess Ill have to wait till the super duty is bought and paid for to get another 'stang. Guess I like them for the same reason people in my day liked neons. Its an underdog. especially in convertible trim (heavier) . It doesnt take as much as most people think to make a V6 car fast, and out handle even equally modified GTs all day (not as nose heavy, understeer is a bitch).
