Yes

Search the forums and get to reading... best way to learn about your car and what you can do to get the most out of it is to read other peoples opinions on what they have done.

As diablo stated.....search the forum....
The TPS mod does NOT work(results to be posted) the AIS mod(or the 25hpchip) does NOT work, results ARE posted...and i'm working on others. What kind of car and or setup do you have now? Without MAJOR mods you should be able to get advertised power to the ground. Otherwise your basic plug,wire,CAI,catback..willl make your car more efficient and thats it!!
Last week I averaged 35mpg, got 130hp to the ground(150hpest at motor) and thats because the motor is more efficient. Hell, last week I got 202mile to 5.5gallons of gas, the car ran 8sec 0-60 and did the quarter in 16sec flat. I have all the basic mods and it made NO HP performance.
If you want to make HP, plan ahead......if you use NOS....will your Exhaust or intake be good enough for the 50shot you want to run? If you plan on forced induction(turbo or supercharged) will the intake or Exhuast you put on help you there also?
Honestly, from my experience the BEST first mods are as follows:
Remove the factory resonator in fenderwell
Replace OEM air filter w/ a re-usable
Replace the crap sparkplugs with your choice(DONT USE PLATINUMS IN FORCED INDUCTION) I run Iridium NGK's
Replace factory muffler w/ R/T design or any aftermarket backhalf you prefer......
Replace factory 7mm plug wires w/anything higher than 8mm...I use Mopar Performance wires w//o a prob....
Reduse overall wheel diameter for more accel...
WEIGHT reduction......every 100lbs is equal to a tenth of a sec......
Anyone want to ad to this post please feel free. I'm not telling him what to do, just a basic suggestion for now.....

Disagree removing the resonator wont give hp gains, yeah the air runs without restrictions but it will get hotter hair.

CAI is the option, crap sparkplugs? stock champions work great, stock ignition in general works perfect for stock and slightly modded neons and its Nitrous not Naaawwwws.
Rally Neon Mod List:
2.5 direct exhaust, PVC CAI, PT clutch, Crane 14, 5point seats & harnesses, 8 point FIA roll cage, AF/X race ecu, Dropzone coilovers, Hotchkis swaybars, Crane valve springs, Autogage 5" tach shiftlite, .020" head shaving, custom long tube header, wilwood 12" Big Brake Kit.

Did you get those mods free? Because, that's what this post is titled.

The only free modifications I can think of is lightening your car. Removing the rubber strip in front of the cowl for a little more cooling. And removing the resonator box (not the airbox in the engine bay) in the left front wheel well. You can find out more by doing a little research. And do a little more research for cheap mods like an ebay cold air intake. Have a nice day.

I did not say anything I listed above would give any HP gains. I stated that these are the FIRST mods and are very basic. I did NOT tell him to get a cheap Ebay CAI to bolt onto his car to find out it does nothing. I did not state my spark plugs are better than yours....
My statement was:
HERE is a basic list of mods, mostly free....do as you wish, BUT if you want to get real HP numbers, you are going to have to spend some good money. A CAI is NOT going to give you 10hp, and a catback another 15HP to equal 25HP over stock.....it will NOT happen, its a sales pitch.
Search 2GN thorughly, you will find what is best and what is not.
