transmission problem

well i was driving today and my car(03 sxt) wouldnt go into gear at all. everytime i tryed pushing it into gear, it wouldnt go. after playing with the shifter, it would eventually. 4th and 5th seemed to shift normally tho. any ideas on whats causing this?

also, when the car is running, not in gear, when i push the clutch in, and let it back out, it makes an odd noise.

and the car doesnt go into gear when the engines not running eather

You could of just edited your first post.

Check your tranny fluid? I am guessing your synchros are going bad?

When you shift, do you shift hard or gently? Typically, if the car doesn't go into gear do you force it or try to put it in another gear then back into the gear that you can't get it into?
