Spacer for SRT rim with stock tire?
Before you flame the hell out of me, yes i've done my homework. Searched around and asked a few people. But i don't know if this one's been answered cuz i haven't heard of it.
To succesfully throw SRT rims on with STOCK SRT tires you either gotta:
1) Switch to srt struts
2) Put 205-40-17 tires and drop it to avoid laughter (As seen in other thread)
3) Aftermarket Struts...i.e tokico
4) Beat the hell out of your perch
Now, CAN A SPACER OR ANY OTHER "AFFORDABLE" ALTERNATIVE be used aside from those 4? I understand a cheap solution shouldn't be sought but when you're already getting the last dollar out for the rims themselves, I think some of you younger ones might understand.

Well i'm spending all my money as it is to get the rims. I got a really good deal on them with practically new stock tires. After seeing the other thread, I just want more tire than what a 40 series offers. BUT,
Finding SRT struts ain't that easy. I comb through the forums a bit and they either don't include the full setup or they're blown and crap.
I don't want ANY aftermarket drop like that the tokico offers. My srt bumper hits everything as it is and roads in texas suck ass.
So yeah. How does one go about this trim perching business...

I argued about this on here a few months ago, because I wanted more rubber and less drop (and judging from your tagline pic Hansken, your car is lower than I want to go, no offense). It sounds like he is in the exact same boat I am, only my SRT struts and springs came unassembled GRRRR... I don't have the top cup pieces, either. I'm actually kinda pissed about that.Even if I had them, I'dhave the risky business of reassembling the springs in them. Something I'm not too eager to try.

I dunno if you already did this, or not... but it is fairly easy, in a haynes manual is the best directions, you need to rent a spring compressor from an autoparts store, and you need about 5 hrs of time for first timers... if you have sways, you have to disconnect em and if you have disc brakes in rear you have to remove caliper... other than that, needs lots of elbow grease for the bolts holding the strut in place

Can't you undo the top and bottom bolts and SLOOOOWLY lower the suspension on a jack? Then reverse the process?

Arro - I've got all the tools to do struts on a Neon - I'd be willing to help ya out if you need it.
I'm looking for a set of OE SRT4 wheels or anthracite finished tC wheels, so I reckon I'm going to be in the same position as well soon. If I can't get a set of decently priced coilovers, I guess I'm stuck with the 215/40's?
How irritating do you think the ride would be with the Kazera springs??

"Irritating" for me is "damn I lean too much and can't turn corners as fast as I want". Anyways I've been looking for some used SRT4 lowering springs on SRTforums and no luck. AND I still need the cup assemblies for the tops to cap the springs.

5mm Spacer does the job perfectly. Although i do get some rubbing at around 90mph, for everything else it's absolutely fine.
I'm such a shitty mechanic...it takes me forever to install the front struts!

lol ahh don't worry man, experience is key, Everyones gotta learn somewhere, thats for sure..
If you were shown the trick to take the front struts off, you could have done it in no time.... but like everything else, there is a very easy way, and many hard ways... most find the hard way before the easy way, lol...
The bright side for you is, you live in Texas. Here in Canada, we get shitty winter and road salt dominates the underside of our cars...
My car doesn't even have a front sway now, because the k-member bolts seized and i broke em taking the sway off...
ahh well.. Good thing i have a tap and die kit..

Damn that really sucks. I hear those bolts break off for you guys because of that salt build up. I wonder if that's why my bolts came off easy...I was nervous to break them in there

Problem is a poor design really. The nuts are welded up into the frame, where you can't get at them. And the bolts they used, Are 2 inches Tooo Long, Causing them to have 2 inches of rusted thread hanging out after the nut, i suppose a good solution would be to cut off the extra length. Mine came loose and down 1/2" no problem, but after that, they hit all that built up rust, And Snap, Game over... lol ahh well, im good at drilling at tapping!
