side exit exhaust, dunno where to put this...

Post by gunton224 » Wed Jul 11, 2007 7:05 pm

Where can I find a side exit exhaust for my 2000 es? I want it to split so that each rear wheel has a chrome tip in front of it, kinda viper-ish. I don't care about HP gains, I'm just goin for looks right now. Anyone know where to find? Price?

topic has been moved to genral discussion. as for your exhaust setup. most muffler shops can custom make the piping for you to do it. most people just have it exit right in front of their rear driver side tire. as for splitting it to the other side...well i dont think i seen anyone do it, but im sure you can have the muffler shop do it. i just dunno how it would be with the exhaust pipe and your fuel lines right there. dont see how it would really affect them though. maybe someone can put some input on that one? i guess if anything wrap the part of the exhaust that runs under the fuel lines with some heat wrap.

considering there really isn't a tunnel for the exhaust to go into on the passenger side of the car i would imagine it would ride very low to the ground and knock against the undercarriage going over bumps.

Plus you're right there's the fuel like and other things to worry about.

would be very loud because the SRT exhaust has no muffler and 2 resonators.

The SRT can get away with it and make a nice rumbler because of the increased exhaust flow of the Turbo.

I have a 3" Side Exit TBE for my SRT and it's Rather Loud at WOT.

i have an srt 4 exhaust on my '04 sxt(with the rear section easily replaceable with my stock muffler using a single exhaust clamp) and its fawking obnoxious. I bought the car with the srt 4 rear section and after 2 days had to put the sxt muffler back on so i could again know what it was like to hear myself think

I don't know if you care or not, but you might want to check local laws. in many states it's unlawful to put a side-exit exhaust on a 4 door vehicle (some places allow it as long as the tip is after the back of the rear window). open the rear window a hair and exhaust gases can flow into the car rather easily while stopped at lights or in traffic, making it hazardous to your health (and the health and safety of others around you when you pass out in the car and run into them).

thats what i was thinking too. fuel stuff would be somethin to worry about and that it might hang low on the passenger side since there isnt really a tunnel for the exhaust to sit in.
