o it might have been, they are in my outbox and wont leave.....

In sent or outbox? If it's in the Outbox the there is still a copy of it sitting in their Inbox that they haven't read. If it's in your Sent then it's normal b/c they read it.
If you delete that message out of your Outbox it will also delete it out of their Inbox.
