if its an optical mouse, make sure there is nothing blocking the eye in the mouse. how old is it?

Wireless hardware, in my experience, is so extremely unreliable. Too much can go wrong. In your case it sounds like the signal reciever is not working. Maybe reset it a few times? Find out the procedure to sync your mouse to your signal reciever and do that a few times.

All wireless hardware I have purchases has had problems.

I bought a USB mouse for my computer ($15 at best buy) and it is EXCELLENT. Never any problems.

My best advice. Get a cheap USB mouse and never have problems again. No batteries, too.

Uninstall the drivers and reinstall. Try another USB port. I take it when you say it has a good signal I take it the computer sees the physical mouse. Does the mouse have any sort of reset button at all or way to reset the connection? Try removing the batteries from the mouse and putting them back in to almost 'reboot' the mouse.

I have a microsoft optical wireless mouse and havent had a single issue with it in well over a year. It only needed one set of batteries since then and people leave the damn thing on all the time! I paid 30 bucks for it but it was well worth it.
