PCV hose broke off airbox

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

PCV hose broke off airbox

Post by 1/2 Scottish » Sat Jul 14, 2007 5:49 pm

So i was inspecting the coolant level and happened to see that my the end of the pcv hose was just dangling. This is the end that gets air from the stock air box, and it had broken off from there. I looked closer and saw that it had been broken off before and the owner tried to glue into place. The glue kinda stuck to some foam in the airbox and prolly didnt help much. So i put a sock over the hose for now  Anyway, if i choose to get a cai what exactly will happen to that hose, i try to look at cai installation but its hard to see where the pcv hose hooks up on their pics?

This half answered my question. Maybe picture with ghetto schematics will help.
:D

So, according to the above post, on a 2.0l the pcv inlet will always have its own filter. So what happens to the inlet end when you use a aftermarket cai? It hooks directly up to the cai pipe?

It hooks up between the throttle body and the air filter. All that matters is that it has a filter on in because air comes in through that hoes

I have mine running to a spare port on my throttle body (which enters the tb infront of the throttle plate, so it see no vaccum).

Stock air box has a make up air filter to supply the PCV system and yes a CAI generally just draws air from the pipe after the filter. Although in some pictures of the FIPK from K&N they use a separate pod filter for the PCV supply.

Not a huge big deal.

As long as the PCV is filtered before getting to the engine you are good.
