My Dodge Spirit Project Car

Post by Nightspy » Mon May 16, 2005 2:04 pm

As some of you know i recently sold my 2004 Neon R/T to build a 1992 Dodge Spirit R/T. Something about the whole TIII turbo setup was just too good to resist.

Late last week I ordered $1,500 worth of parts and they are scheduled to arrive early this week. Koni struts w/ KYB supporting parts (spring rubber, strut mount, etc.), Cometic +.010" head gasket, ARP rod bolts, Walbro 255 fuel pump, PolyBushing motor mounts, a high HP clutch, and some cosmetic engine peices (engine vally cover) to restore the clean look. This combined with the rebuilt/ported 16v TIII head i just got back from the shop and the brand new 2.2 liter block i have obtained will be close to all the parts i need to get this thing on the road (minus a few belts and gaskets i need from a dealer). oh, and i got a low-profile steering column gauge pod and a 30 PSI boost gauge from Autometer too.

So i decided to start spending money on something to push my music. Since i sold a brand new car to get money for this project i can stand to spend a few bucks for great quality, so I went to "Bob and Ron's Worldwide Stereo" (high-end audio snobs) and dropped $1,700 on audio equipment. A SWEET Kenwood Head unit that's compatible with everything and has 3 sets of RCA preouts (I will use them all), an Alpine 4 channel amp powering 2 sets of Phoenix Gold Octane ZR 5.25" component speakers (that's 4 mid range and 4 tweeters complete with crossovers), a JL Audio 500watt mono amplifier (with more range and adjustablility than i'll EVER need), a JL Audio 12" W6v2 subwoofer, and a 1.25 cu. in. sealed enclosure. I'm going to use Lightning Audio for my power cables, fuse equipment, distribution block, and all the hardware. They are cheap but they get the job done. I just can't bring myself to spent high-end prices on power wire. This setup should do the new NIN album more than enough justice.

As soon as i get the Spirit on the lift I can start tearing things apart. I'll do the motor with my friend's help on the weekends and i'll do the audio and suspension on my own time.

Sound good?

I had a JL audio 500/1 amp pushing 2 12w3v2's. That amp is beyond awesome.

Good luck

Well, the minivan has been on stands for over a year now. lol. Welcome to turbo dodges. They spend more time broken than running. Just the nature of the beast.
