when you crank it over what does it do? does it sound like it's cranking too fast? How many miles? Ever had the timing belt changed?

check your plugs and your distributer...

open your door and turn the car on and off to the on position three times and see what codes you get and post them here, since you said that check engine light came on.

well car is at a shop now so I can't check for a code, they had it for three hours before they closed and they said they couldn't find out what was wrong, it doesn't turn fast or anything...and yes im positive I have gas, I have almost a full tank...they tried another coil and it still wont start. They also said there is no way it's the timing, my car has 117k on it...I guess I will see if they find anything out today...

how does it having 117k miles eliminate timing? if anything, it'd make me think timing even more unless i knew it got changed at around 90k. not saying that's what it is, cause i don't know, but i don't follow their (your?) logic.

The only timing related issue that could cause this is a broken timing belt. DIS ignition systems dont have adjustable timing, it is 100% computer contolled. So unless someone snuck a cam gear in there and threw the timing off while you were driving it, I wouldnt worry about it.

If it cranks then that pretty much eliminates battery and starter as being problems. The 02 sensor doesnt even come into play until the car is in closed-loop anyway, so it would not prevent it from starting/running.

That leaves several mechanical possibilities, as well as some possible ignition related issues. You'd need to go in depth a bit more to narrow things down, but since you already have someone looking at it, I guess there's really no point in anyone around here guessing at it. Good luck

The pcm will throw a code for the cam and crank sensor being out of sync..
Did you take the car to the dealer or a local shop?
The dealer can use the DRB to scan for trip failures to see what happened before the car died. The pcm datalogs in situations like that...

Cam shaft and crank shaft position sensor if the car wont spark at all changed the cam sensor, because the sensor can not read the groves on the car for the firing of the coil.... if you did the timing right it shouldn't of jumped.. thats just my thoughts...

I guess I missed this thread.... Could be that mr. Valve met mr. Piston, Idk, mine didnt sputter when my belt went, it just shut down.. So thats why I say timing belt, other than that I dont know what to tell you.
