is there a way to add an aux in jack to a 2000 dodge neon?

You will probably need to find an adapter that plugs into the radio antenna jack, or an FM broadcaster I think it's called :)

so its easier just to buy a raido that has a usb connection or aux jack already installed

It is, yes, and the sound quality will be better by far; although it's the more expensive option.

If you don't have a CD changer, you can get an adapter that converts your CD changer input to a stereo aux input.

it works great in my wifes murano, sounds like a cd is playing from her mp3 player
