Tinting the Tail lights Silver.

Post by deep1ca » Sun Jul 29, 2007 3:09 am

I have a silver neon and I want to tint the tail lights silver. How should I go about this? If I tint them too much and end up getting pulled over all the time is there anyway to take the tint off?

I dont know of any silver spray on tint off the top of my head, but im sure its out there if you look. Most tint is black and the transparency is adjusted according to how much you spray on (# of coats). I would assume that the procedure is the same with silver. If you were to get pulled over, you could probably remove the tint with paint thinner or equivalent, but it would be much easier to pick up an extra pair of tail lights so you can swap them out when you have to get the ticket signed off. That way you can re install the tinted lights when you're cleared. Its kind of a lot of trouble, which is why many people opt to leave the lights stock.

The only tint I have heard of is black for tinting tail lamps. Keep us updated when you find it, because I am curious if it even exists.

I picked up these carbon fiber tails on ebay for $35 shipped. Not a bad price eh?

Anyways, when they get here... Im going to remove the lense to make them 3d, and then I want to tint the red parts either silver or grey to match either my silver paint or my gunmetal wheels.

silver spray tint does in fact exist. i've used it on my side markers, and they work exactly like niteshades/ black tint, only silver. tint is also available in many other colors too, such as green, blue, red, purple, etc.

btw, i picked it up at an art store...

just go to any paint shop and tell them to mix 80% clear and 20% silver.

Welcome to the site.

Not too many on here have tinted the headlights. Most do projector/HID conversions, and make the reflector area black.

The light output doesn't suffer that way, and you get the look you want.

For the love of everything that is holy, do not tint your headlights.

And if you want to do that for the love of god don't pay high prices for "JDM paint". Either buy stained glass paint, Testors transparent hobby paint, or something else similar much cheaper.
