Project Mustang TB on 02 R/T

Post by SlvrACR » Sun Jul 29, 2007 9:12 pm

Well since BRR was nice enough to share the info my brother and I went to the junkyard and started our project.
We have so far:
TB 60mm soon to be smooth honed-- Ended up using the 65mm
TPS and wiring
3.0l Cable adapter
New IAC
TB adapter
So far total bill is only $30. Only thing left is one gasket and throttle bracket. We hope to finish under $50 total

We are now working on a throttle cable setup. BRR posted one but we opted for a diff setup.

We grabbed the TB and cleaned it out and sprayed it with PS2 silver. The walls still need to be smoothed down.

Image

We then had to fill the hole to keep the idle down. We welded it and grinded it smooth.

Tomorrow once I get the brackets made ill post more.

Well the brackets are all made and its all installed. I have to still get a spring to return it better. Only thing diff for BRR is the linkage bracket. I still have to notch it for cruise control but that only takes a sec. So far no problems. It is idling around 9-800 and my brother said the thing feels much better then stock. For a total of $40 + time building this is very nice if you dont have the $200+ to spend like I had to. Thanks BRR for everything.

Very cool. :) I like it.

What advantages does the mustang 60mm TB have over the modernperformance 60mm TB?

The computer had to learn the TB. It is down to around 7 or so now. We ended up going with the 65mm version and before install smoothed out the walls inside.

That was the whole point of me starting the project back in feb, affordable TB upgrade with more options in tb sizes...
Granted, we dont really need anything bigger than a 60mm, or atleast thats what people state....but now you can goto ebay and buy a TB anywhere from:
$5 starting bid for a used 60mm

all the way upto a 75mm @ $106.95 buy it now new!

You and me both, thats why I started this project back in Feb to see if there's an alternative TB for us 2GN owners Vs the $200-$300 TB that alot of us cant afford.

Well he has gone this long and no problems yet and no cells. Only thing we changed is put a nicer spring on and that was it. Idle is sitting at 700 rpm

How do you go about "teaching" the computer to work with the TB?

I just cleared the computer by leaving the battery off, started the car and let it idle and sort of adjust itself. We then drove it on the e-way and normal city driving. No cels since day one.
