Violent vibration, somtimes

Post by catalyst » Sun Jul 29, 2007 11:24 pm

So I just changed my springs to srt's. Now when I'm going over 50mph and make a wide angle left turn, the car vibrates like crazy, feels as though it's driver side wheel area to me. My wife says she feels it in the center by the tranny. :cussing:

I checked for clearence with the wheel at different angles but nothing is touching. I haven't gotten a chance to look under her yet, I'll do that tomorow after work.

My questions is WTF, has anyone ever heard of this?

thanks
Sam

I would double check to verify that the springs were installed in the correct direction. I believe I read somewhere that vibration may occur when the coils of the spring are "touching" eachother, meaning they may have been installed incorrectly.

I believe the terminology is spring (or coil) binding. Other than that, I would suggest double checking the torque of the top mount strut bolts, I heard that over-tightening may cause similar symptoms.

anytime you repair/adjust/swap suspension components, get an alignment ASAP!

I'm setting up an alignment appt next week, hopefully that fixes it.

But if not what could it be?

check to see if you tightened the bolts the hold the strut and knuckle together. if you dont have camber adjustment bolts, no need for an alignment.

You change ride height with new springs you need an alignment to correct toe.

Camber is still adjustable, and with the slight drop the srt springs give, I wouldnt doubt that stock specs could easily be reached.
