Engine viberation question..((Normal or Not that is the ?))

Post by eclass82 » Sat May 21, 2005 2:31 am

My 02 Neon ES (AT tranny), has a slight engine viberations. when i hold the steering wheel you can feel it sort of shaking, it not a big deal hardly noticeable but it bothers me knowing it shakes, i was wonder if even a stock engine should do that or maybe theres a idle problem with the car or what not.....
I took my car to the dealer last week they did some type of computer software update to the car ECU and it took care of the rough idle i was having before, but still i was wonder if that something thats common or what...The car only has 39k miles on it.
Anyone else having that problem with similar car..
Maybe i need to change my type of oil or time for tuneup....

It can be your plugs and wires or it could be as simple as a wheel wieght to it just varys. But the idle could just be a bug in the system that the garage is working out if they hooked up to the computer and it fixed it. But if it happens again i would try new plugs and make sure it's got a clean air filter on it. 8)
May own A Ford Ranger. But i Still Know Alot about NeonS.

My '02 Did that, new plugs fixed it. Only get copper plugs, don't waste your money on platinum garbage. Platinum plugs will likely make your car run worse.

there computer is f'd up...not a single neon ever made came with platinums, they roped you in on that one. There are some V6 chryslers that use platinum..but not many.
Hell even now chrysler is fazing in NGK's to replace the champions.

Who would pay $4 per plug PLUS shipping for Bosch Non-Platinums from Mopar? Can't you get them at the local auto store for $2 a piece?

The last time I bought Bosch plugs was at Auto Zone. I would think either one would have them for a similar price.

Does the shake change when the car is idling in Drive or Reverse compared to Park/Neutral?

If ir's worse in gear that in Park/Neutral (and worse in Reverse compared to Drive) look carefully at twisted or failed engine mounts.
