no catalytic converter!!

Post by slowfosho » Fri Aug 03, 2007 3:56 am

i have a 2004 dodge neon se, before putting anything on the engine i raced another friends neon, same year same trim (same color too), from a dead start he beat me by half a car, i dont really know how but he did, after putting a cold air intake and removing the catalytic converter i raced him again but on the freeway from a 45 mph roll and i beat him by about 2 and a half cars, i dont know if its the intake or the straight pipe i have instead of the cat, basically i want to know if removing the cat really did give me more hp or was it the c.a.i.,

You guys both have manual transmissions? Well...its a drivers race. A CAI and no CAT will probably free up a couple horses, nothing much at all, specially on a NGC.

First ..welcome to the forums, second racing from a dead start and a rolling start are two different animals..if you did both from the start before you did anything to your car you would have been able to tell if your additions helped you out at all. Enjoy your stay and by all means post some pics!

lol.

2.25" pipe keeps the back-pressure up.

Its already been talked about that removing the cat will free up HP and torque, you're helping the engine become more efficent.
