Long Tube Headers
Long Tube Headers
Between the kirk and OBX LTH's, which do most preffer? I'm leaning towards the Kirk because i've heard it's a better brand.
But the OBX looks a lot better in quality. I'm confused and FAFSA money is coming! hahah
Thanks guys ;D
(BTW I dont' wanna get the mpx one. i'd rather save the hundred for other mods/gas)

Kirk but I would try to find a fastfabs or blackdog header there the best.

What year/model is it goin on? It'd try an OBX one for a standard head and mild build, since it's stainless and the Kirk is just mild steel. One of the 'big boys' (that's FastFabs, Blackdog, AFX) would be better for a magnum head and all-out build.
The FastFabs is nice, the only problem I have is that it doesn't fit very well (required the coolant bottle to be moved, the midpipe heat sheild had to be removed and it rubs against the K-member). My previous Kirk LTH fit absloutly perfect, but is considerably smaller than the FastFabs. FastFasb are no longer made, you'll have to find a used one for between $200 and $400.

A 2002 SXT....atx. I might just go with an OBX than, I really want it to last me a while and not get all rusted up.
BTW how easy is it to extend the o2 sensor for the cat?
I have a 31' glasspack. I plan on installing the header, keeping the glasspack, moving the cat down and extending the o2 sensor.
But yeah is it difficult/expensive to extend the o2 sensor?

To extend the downstream O2 wires you just have to cut them and add wire to lengthen. But be careful to not get the wires mixed up. When extending the wires for my FF header I got two of the wires mixd up, so now when under load (and the sensor sees a certain voltage) the coolant gauge and cruise control goes out.
I still have to fix that.
03, you have something grounding out somewhere hehe.
I'd go with the kirk unless you can wait till we are under production on our longtubes.
asanti's 01 atx loves the hell out of the kirk under a 14 on a cnnp ported head.

no performance issues from not running a lower o2 sensor.. its there to monitor the presence of the cat, and to make sure its functioning.. only problem you will notice, is the CEL... which isn't really a problem, just annoying. But why not just spend 15 minutes and do it properly..? its pretty easy to cut 4 wires, and add another 12" to each lead..

any 18awg wire will work just fine, if you wanna get fancy about it, the wires are 2 whites, a grey and a black.. if you want to, get the same color wire to extend it.. just makes reconnecting easier.. then you know you've got it hooked up properly.. if you cant solder, then go get some good crimp connectors, and some heatshrink to cover the newly connected wires.....

I never had to move my coolant bottle with the fastfab. It did hit the k frame when I would take off.

I was also meaning to ask
When I install the LTH, would I LOSE horsepower if I took off the catalytic converter? Should I keep it on?

Why does no one ever think of the TTI???? ITs got very good craftmenship and get it coated and it will last forever and weigh a lot less then the OBX one. The OBX is just a copy of the TTI.

I had one on my 02 after I pulled the turbo kit and I was verry pleased with it.
What ever you do don't get the Kirk its loud and it sucks. I had one on my 2.4 swaped 1st gen and hated it.

What I have against Kirk is this: The length of the primaries are ok, But there not a big enough diamiter to do anything for your motor if you have anything done to it. That and the metal is so thin it resonates like crazy. If I remember correctlly the Kirk ws designed by request of Chrysler to run on a race car that was internaly stock.03blackrt wrote:Kirk is alright in my book, I had no problems with mine. It's just alittle small, but still good.Adionik wrote:really? the kirk sucks? i had heard a lot of good things about it...but not much from the 2gn owners.
I ordered a TTI.
It's going to cost 227.85 to my door! Pretty damn good deal. I hate modern taxing cuz i'm in texas.
I have a 31' glasspack. Will I be able to fit my LTH, Glasspack and Possibly a high flow cat? I think i'm running out of midpipe!

wow, that glasspack is long, maybe you can fit both cat and glasspack, but yeah, you are running out of room
Try the sparkplug non-fouler mod first and see if it runs without throwing a code, like mine does. Sorry, no links to it, but try a search... its your friend
