Iceman Intake Problem

Post by 1/2 Scottish » Sun Aug 05, 2007 7:48 pm

So i installed the iceman i got and after initially starting up the engine for a check i saw this gap in between the bellows tube and the manifold. I put my finger around the gap and sure enough felt vacuum. I give it some gas while finger in place and got plenty more vacuum. Everything is tightened down..... any suggestions?
Btw, yes i know my pcv is oily.

wrap that area in teflon tape then gently pull the coupler over the area. Then tighten down alot more. :)

That bump is there to tell you not to go that far.

That tube actually deformed due to heat on mine, so I replaced it with thin wall aluminum tube. I'd be very leary on how much you tighten that clamp. Just a warning.

Hmm interesting, thanks. What was the diameter of the tubing just in case?

As long as it's 2.5" outer diameter, you're set. I used a thin wall aluminum tubing so it would dissipate heat well much like the plastic Iceman piece.

As slvracr noted, I took apart the bellows tube and saw that the couplers were way over their stopper bumps, I bought this used and it came to me with couplers slipped onto the bellows tube already. This is wierd though because if i shifted the couplers to the "correct" position, there was no way that it was gonna fit back together with the added length. I would either have to cut the couplers or just say fuck it and do the above alum. pipe jig. Pain in teh ass but for now i will just use the stock bellows tube.
