PCV valve/catch can questions
PCV valve/catch can questions
I have an '04 non-magnum SXT. It appears that my pcv valve comes off the valve cover on the side facing the firewall and the line wraps around and enters my Iceman CAI right next to the driver's side fender. Is this correct? Also, none of the pictures from the catch can install how-tos appear to be loading so can someone take a few pictures and/or do a quick basic write-up on how to set up a catch can? Only reason I'm asking is because I'd like to use the hole in the Iceman for my nitrous nozzle.

I'm confused...What is the line that runs to the top of my Iceman CAI and are you saying it needs to run there?

I see...well in that case does anyone know what the line is that goes from the passenger side of the valve cover to the intake assembly?

They just told you twice ^^j0n wrote:I see...well in that case does anyone know what the line is that goes from the passenger side of the valve cover to the intake assembly?
The line you originally asked about is not the correct line, it is simply a vacuum line, not really sure whats its real purpose is but you can leave it completely disconnected if you like, it exhales only. The line that comes out of the drivers side of the valve cover is your pcv line where the catch can is installed. Sorry those guys weren't very clear, we always try our best around here

if you go to the how to section there is a how to stickied about how to do this mod.
i wrote it, and when i did it, i went a minorly different route but you can get a good idea of what is going on by looking at it.
its called the $20 catch can, you dont ahve to use that can, you can use a greddy, bwoody, make your own, etc.

atom: Thank you that's the information I needed...by intake assembly I was referring to the cold air intake not the intake manifold. I'll probably slap a breather on there and get rid of that line

"i think the following pics will tell the rest of the story. its really quite simple. you dont have to run it so long but it is the nicest looking way, in my opinion. "
and not a single picture loads on my computer, which is why I made the post in the first place.

if you have any other questions about this setup let me know. i have a pretty good understanding of this system. i have installed 2 catch cans on my car and one on an srt.
my most recent one is a BWoody can that is hidden to appear stock. I havent taken any pics of it yet for here, but its been on the car for a few months.
also if you would like a drain system there is a how to on that as well. im going to go check the pic linking now to make sure those are good. so if they aren't they will be shortly.

If I had to guess, I would say that the breather hose on the back of the valve cover is just a vent for the valvecover. The stock airbox has a small piece of sponge like material to absorb any residue that the line passes, so a filter is surely a safe way to go. I wonder if K&N makes a baby filter for that type of application?. I thought about deleting that line as well, just to clean up the bay and get rid of useless junk. Ill probably do that when I can afford to throw in a catch can at the same time.
