Missing, pulled TPS and Fuel pump relay codes...

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Missing, pulled TPS and Fuel pump relay codes...

Post by Ryanm07 » Mon Aug 06, 2007 12:05 am

Ok so i was on my way home today and i was messing around with this GTI then the car started bucking. I figured it was my trans since I know its on its way out but when i was driving normally It kept doing and I realized it was more of a misfire not a trans slipping. When I got home I pulled these codes:

P0123-TPS high voltage
P1282-Fuel Pump Relay Control Circuit-Open or shorted condition
P1495-Leak detection pump solenoid circuit-an open or shorted condition in the LDP solenoid circuit.

I know i've got a bad PCM in the car but its been without O2 sensors for a year now, and i've never had any other problems. anyone have any clue what the hell is going on?

If you know you have a bad pcm why not change that first and see if the problem persists?

are you sure it isn't a wiring issue. So you have been driving around on a PCM that isn't reading the DS O2 man the CEL must be annoying. If you are 100% the PCM is responsible for all of this replace it and be done with it, otherwise it is going to get real old driving around on a faulty TPS signal not to mention get expensive fill up wise.

I've tried 6 PCMs and for various reasons none worked 100% correctly. And the dealer wants $945 for it. It was always with just the O2 sensors though. This is the first time i've had any other problem that could be PCM related. I'm going to go tonight and check all my wiring and maybe clear the codes and see what happens. I should hear today on whats going on with the replacement PCM, i've tried two from this place i'm not sure if they're going to have another one or what. But you guys are thinking its going to be a wiring issue or a bad PCM, and not a bad TPS or something with the fuel pump? thanks guys!

I'd probably be replacing the wiring harness for at least the engine bay if you have tried 6 pcm's, and none have worked properly.. id say you have a couple shorts or bad wiring somewhere...not to mention a smeggy pcm... Also, have you ever tried your pcm in another 2001 neon? aside from possible skim issues, you could tell pretty fast if its your pcm, or wiring harness thats messed.

That alone is a sign that the pcm is not the problem.....
You have 3 different codes for 3 different systems....

P0123-TPS high voltage -- Unmodified TPS? replace with a known working one
P1282-Fuel Pump Relay Control Circuit-Open or shorted condition -- Swap with a different relay for testing purposes
P1495-Leak detection pump solenoid circuit-an open or shorted condition in the LDP solenoid circuit. --- Bad wire
When trying to fix these problems, ONLY attempt to fix ONE at a time and make sure you reset the PCM in between each fix. Running around trying to fix all 3 at once will lead to more problems...

I disconnected and then reconnected my computer and cleared the codes then drove it and now its fine. My PCM is in a slightly different location because of my intercooler maybe it wasnt tight and a connector came loose or something idk. And I know my PCM is bad because i'm getting O2 sensor high voltage codes as soon as i start the car, and if the sensors are connected the car will go lean and stall. One of the PCMs I got started the car and let it run and with that one my O2 sensors were working perfectly. It just had some issues with a torque converter code and a low idle which i'm having the place that sold it to me work on now. thanks guys!
