Will the codes ever stop

Post by dansou5 » Mon Aug 06, 2007 11:14 am

Alright pulled the codes today and i got 4 of them.

P0420(M) 1/1 Catalytic Converter Efficiency Catalyst 1/1 efficiency below required level.

P1684 Battery Disconnected in the last 50 Starts The battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts.

Those two arent important and i figured they would be on due to me deleting the cat.....

P0455(M) Evap Leak Monitor Large Leak Detected A large leak has been detected in the evaporative system.

P0442(M) Evap Leak Monitor Medium (0.040) Leak Detected A small leak has been detected in the evaporative system \

These are the two i am worried about. I know i have a slight exhuast leak from where the cat connects to the mid-pipe. Is that what would cause it.

Thats typically a sign of a Leak Detection pump problem or atleast the big hoses going to it. Its located by the passenger side rear wheel, look for any swelled up hoses or broken hoses....

I'd check what BRR said, plus the obvios - fuel cap. The Evap system pulls a vacuum on the entire fuel system to keep fumes from escaping to the atmosphere. if there is a leaking hose somewhere between the charcoal canister and the tank, or the gas cap is loose /defective it won't pull a vacuum.
